i think its better to listen to music... i like it because it puts me into a crazy zone sometimes and it feels like i got supernatural powers :)... but it has to be trance music of course...

I agree with this with an exception, you have to be in the mood for music.
I find when I'm in the mood to listen to music, I hand pick the music for my tourney, press play and seem to play a great game.
And there are times that I don't feel like listening to music while playing.

Operas...

I usually don't listen to music as most of the tournaments i play are late at night with my girlfriend sleeping near my puter place. But when i choose to listen to music, i prefer to pick up an Opera from Verdi or Mozart. That means almost 3 hours or more of sweet music, really relaxing for my poker play.
Trance would not give me the calm i need to play good poker just like rap, rock and whatever you listening to.
The other kind of music i'm able to listen while playing is Jazz and mostly Miles Davis.

I always listen to music when plahying in a tourney helps to relax me and keep me off tilt if I get aggravated about the way I or someone else is playing

yea your right, your mood influences how u play alot. But I sometimes play music to change my mood like soft rock to stay calm and rap to get aggressive

will you listen at the begining of tourneys when everybody is just trying to build their stacks so you don't play too agressive and just sort of tune out? Because that's the time I always lose chips because everybodies taking risks and sometimes get payed off

music works for me
i like a loaded ipod that when i need an appropiate song you can start singing , make your point and turn it low so you can hear what everyone has to say.

example, i love the wheels on the bus go round and round song, when you have someone else on tilt.

if you want blood you got it, for when your on tilt

Buckcherry's crazy bitch always get a good laugh, just make sure don't drop the f bomb but just mouth it very clear

it might ruin your concentration but it can also keep you in the right mindset and that is helpful for long tourneys

Music

I listen to music sometimes, I seem to relax more and not worry about the woulda coulda stuff. I listen to stuff like tool, Tom Petty and the likes.

I've stopped listening to music during live play. People DO give off audible tells.

I was in a limit game with two players who did just that. One would actually sigh out loud when he didn't like the flop. The other, who I couldn't see because of the dealer, would raise and then click his chips together whenever an ace flopped and he didn't have one.

I'd call almost any raise from the second guy and then bet any flop with an ace if he clicked his chips.

Call, flop, click, bet, scoop, all night long. That's better music than any thing I have on my MP3 player...

I think that depends of your concentration level, personally i like to play with no music at live games, but online u dont have to worry about opponents tells, so listen some kind of music doesnt affect my game.

if you are going to listen music, look for instrumentals, electronic, maybe clasic music, otherwise you'll lose focus..
has happened to me before
