Hiya,

I'm wondering wether or not I should multi table. I play $20+2 SnGs on FT and I'm doing good. I've calculated that with my ROI and amount of games I play on a daily basis that I'm currently profiting $800 to $1000 per month playing a few hours per day. Obviously I'm considering multitabling to increase my profit but I'm worried that having to divide attention will negatively affect my game. Do you think it's better to play more, or is multitabling the way to go ? I don't want to come to the point where I have to eat my bankroll (I built a 4k roll on party before and ended up having to cash out to pay the bills). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just give it a try and see how much it affects your game on a per table basis. It may take some getting used to but if it works, it will help your bottom line ($/hour) quite a bit even if it hurts your ROI some.

^^^Absolutely. Try it out, see how it affects your game before deciding if you want to give it a go for every time you play.

I would recommend lowering your stakes when you first try while you're trying to get used to it.

PRO'S - I prefer to multi table, I make more money doing it. I tend to not focus too much on a bad beat at 1 table as my attention is needed at others. Boredom factor gone, no more looking at the tv or looking stuff up on google, or even posting too much or looking through the forum here. My attention is required at my tables leaving me no time for other distractions, thus I am more focused on my poker playing.

CONS - Some people do not multi-task well. Playing two tables can sometimes be confusing for some and make one feel a bit overwhelmed. Initially you may not play as well because you are doing something that is out of your comfort zone. You could lose more money. If you are someone prone to tilt it's easier to open more tables trying to get back what you've lost and end up losing a lot more. You may miss an important play at one or more tables.

So it's up to you, try it out, see how you do and if you are comfortable with it. If you find out you prefer to play 2 tables, after you're comfortable with that then add another table and another until you've figured out how many tables you can play at once and still do so comfortably and profitably.

If you are familliar with icm and using a hud, then I would say its a defininte yes. Consider playing 2 for a while and see how it affects your game. It might take a while to get used to even playing 2 tables when you are down to 4 people and have to make decisions more often. Playing more tables is the ultimate goal I think for everyone. But, before I just jump right into the water, test it with your feet just to see how that cold actually affects you. You might have to even drop down in limits just to get used to playing more tables.....this would have less risk. If its working and you feel comfortable, move back up.

are you sure about that?

a few hours a day means what, 100 hours a month? sngs take about an hour so if you single table them, that means about a 100 games per month, so you'd need to earn $10 per game to profit $1k per month.

Maintaining that kind of ROI at the $22 games is just completely off the charts.

What is your sample size?

Counting since October 1st:

- 147 SNGs
- 18.90 ROI%
- 41.50% ITM
- roughly 107 hours of play

My ROI in September is 69.84% but this includes a big MTT victory so the number is distorted. ITM 36.60% in this month 130 hours of play, 194 games.

I'm not new to poker. I've been playing (and learning) on and off for a few years now. I just end up having to take breaks because I use up the winnings to pay the bills. I just want to stop having to take breaks :)

Another concern with learning to multi table is internet outages. They happen infrequenty, but imagine playing four tables and dropping 4 buyin's just because your internet goes down. I'm already furious when it happens with one game.

If your tight this should not be a problem.

Toor, step up to 2 tables.
I have been up to 3 tables, without an Icm, or HUD, i can still run the same, i think it's about time for me to do 4 tables.

Also if you have wireless it will go out alot. Take it up with your ISP tho if their small buy-in games i would not be pissed about them, like 2.00 and under. thought i only lost internet, when something big has happened, like the line getting hit by a semi truck, hardware crashing, or someone digging and cutting a line, lets not forget the power going out.

It's not only about the money you lose, but the idea that villains are robbing me of my blinds just drive me nuts. Luckily it rarely happens =P
