Whats happening......
So im playing micro stakes at 888 poker, been playing a while now and just recently become a winning player.
I have certain targets to reach each time to gain the correct bank roll to go up in stakes, and while obviously working full time and i'am slowly making profit and working towards these goals, however i would like to begin multi tabling to speed the process up.. I have lil to no experience in multi tabling and i like to be focused on the table im on and have a good read on opponents....
My First problem i have is i use a poker traker, when tiling the tables each table becomes smaller and its hard to read my own cards talk about peoples stats...i also tend myself to not perform as well on each table when multi tabling
I would like any advice on multi tabling in general, lay outs (screens, laptops, software tht can help etc) and anything to help with still knowing where i am in a hand when in multi hands. Any help appreciated......!

I would say just play on 2 tables at first and when you get comfortable doing that move up to 3 and so on. Personally, I like playing 2 or 3 tables; 4 is the maximum i can go. I don't know how people can play 6 or more tables, it's nuts.

I play 4 tables tiled on a 13' laptop and I have no problem seeing my cards or the villains stats so not sure why you are having trouble seeing things?

You can overlap the tables slightly so the bottom of your top two overlaps slightly with the top of you bottom two tables. Also you could change your HUD to show less info with a bigger font.

As for keeping track of where you are in hands on multiple tables, that comes with practice so add them one at a time and only add another when you are used it.

Just start out playing four tables at a time and then when you get used to playing 4 then add 2 more tables and repeat this until you get the amount of tables you want.

Just go slow...play one table until you are bored during a game, time to add another. Then another....etc.
Too many is just as bad as too few, you will win less money.
If you are satisfied playing one table, let it be-If you make it a job, burnout is coming, and once burnout sets in, it is very hard to get rid of. (I used to play 6 hours after my day job, every day-more on weekends, now only occasionally).

First question: are you a winning player at 1 table over a reasonable sample size? Your decision to add tables should be based on this alone, and not boredom or impatience.

If the answer is no, then don't add any tables until you are. All you're going to do is amplify your losses. No losing player should ever add tables unless he just likes burning money.

Your bb/100 winrate will decrease as you add tables, so you can't afford to be a losing or even b/e player where you are. You make your money multitabling by increasing your hourly rate due to volume, but only if you started out positive enough that that the per-table hit is still positive. Otherwise you just lose more faster.

These guys have it right. I cant count the buy ins I lost going to war on the wrong table, or accidentally calling all in when I meant to fold. When Full Tilt was in the USA it was the perfect fix for my desire to play hands and not be overwhelmed by to many decisions at the same time. If you can play at PS or FT, I would recommend trying the fast games.

I would recommend using two different screens when you play. It has significantly helped me because my vision isn't superb and it helps when I have 2 different monitors to play on and the tables are pretty large on both of them. I have heard of several pros that have 3 monitors.

I would say you only need to have two screens if you are playing 12+ tables. I can comfortably manage 12 on my laptop. I like mine tiled, with a little bit of overlap. pokerstars has a nice function that jumps the one with the mouse over it to the front. If you're on a site that doesnt have this then TableNinja is a great program to use.

From just going through the same thing myself last month, I'd definitely recommend going up to two or three tables at once. I started with two and then added one, then another, then another and finally one more till I was doing six. I found myself getting timed out or losing concentration so dropped it to five and now I'm doing fine and even manage six comfortably now. Doesn't take too long to get used to it at all!

I didn't like the look of the smaller cards and a more cramped screen with so many stats all over but you do get used to it relatively quickly.

The more tables you have the less you get to study the players to see how they are playing or the rythem how the game is going. I multi-table sometimes but do better with not too many going at once. And no I don't use a hud....after I asked what that was here it started a controversy so decided not to use one for now at least.

Caused a controversy by asking what a hud was? They aren't frowned upon.. quite the opposite, when used correctly they can improve your winrate tremendously.

Certainly no controversy among the regulars, but there's always a few "uninitiated" who don't really understand them yet have an opinion about them.

Regarding HUDs, I have to say I have used them, and belive I understand them but don't use them anymore when I'm playing. I do only ever play up to 4 tables at a time, so it proberbly isn't as useful as when your doing like 16 tables or something.

I just found myself relying on the stats more than my instincts, which caused problems. It's also a load more info to digest while multitabling. After a few orbits I get a pretty good idea of whose a fish or a reg/nit. At the micros this is pretty much all the info I feel I need.

^ Not sure I agree with this, but I'm a fairly new player too so perhaps it's just my inexperience.

I've just started multi tabling and tend to go for 3/4. Playing full ring this is still up to 32 other players you'll up be against, and certainly at my level I have no chance of keeping track of everyone's styles.

A HUD makes it much quicker and easier to put people on a range - and also minimises the chances of you making crazy bluffs against the wrong person.

Actually yeah I take what I said back.

Just gone back to using a HUD, and tightening up my play and have done a lot better over the last session.
