Hi guys, im thinking of moving to 10NL very soon from 5NL, i was just wondering what will change or how i should change perhaps? over the last 25k hands at 5NL i have been playing a 10/7 game.

Also, do you use Agg factor or frequency, i am never paying attention to this stat, should i be? I really dont understand how to use it properly i have always had agg frequency as a stat, but i just need to understand how i can use it advantageously so like some examples would be great. Thanks in advance!

To your first question - Im at 10nl 2 months now. You will find players are less passive and more aggressive. Moe 3betting and less check/calling. Not extremely different though. I was intimidated at first with the aggression but I play at 20/14ish full ring so I was getting into big pots with not great hands. Play nice and tight to get used to it. Lotsa fish still!

Dont knw bout other question sorry!

10nl isnt any harder than 5nl. The hardest thing is believing that.

Yeah you should be looking at someones agg. stats.

If someone is playing 50% of hands and infinite aggression.
Then theyre looking to spew you some chips.

If someone is playing 10/10 with a .05 agg and they want to give you action...
You better have the nuts.

These are rough examples and EVERY time there will be other variables to consider. But it should give you an idea how to use it.

I have been moving between 5nl and 10nl in the last month. I'm a little underbankrolled and would move up to 10nl, change my game, play poorly, and move back down. When I was back at 5nl playing my game, I won at my normal rate. After repeating this cycle a few times, I stopped overadjusting and have been winning again. Don't change your game. Imo

I tried last night, and found that table selection is much harder to do compared to 5NL, how do you find good tables there doesnt seem to be many when i look?

I play on full tilt and I always pick the 6 best tables with a 2 person wait or less. I feel that the tables that have a huge average pot and high % per flop but 9 people in line aren't going to be worth it by the time you sit down anyway because all the good players have probably moved in. I probably don't pay enough attention to table selection so maybe you wanna hear from someone else. Sometimes I just start tables too. If you are comfortable playing short for a minute or so, the table fills quickly.

Yeah ive tried the starting table technique before which is alright but only if its a couple. Id like to know what other players playing full ring 10NL do for table selection. Previously id always look for tables with 30% seeing flop or more and as high a pot size as i could, and id still join tables with like 25% seeing flop if there wasnt any higher, but at 10NL it seems theres not very many above 30 or 25, is it okay to be joining tables with 15-20% seeing the flop?

IMO yes. Even though I'd potentionally be making more money at a weaker table, I rather be playing a slightly tougher table, than sit around and wait for the perfect table to open up. Even if you encounter some tougher competition, it will increase your skills so that you will be able to beat tougher players as you move up.

Theres way more table choice in the evening (im from the uk as well). The later you play the better... more loose tables to choose from and more donks as well.

Table selection at 5/10/25nl is very good. Have you been using the Global Waiting List feature? If not, you can look into it here (search the page for "global waiting list"): http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/newClientFeatures.php

Basically you can specify the criteria you want and the client will automatically search for tables that meet the conditions you input. For example, when I sit down to play, I look for tables with at least 8 players and at least 28% of the players seeing the flop. Then a bunch of tables will pop up when there's an open seat. So basically you have more time to play poker and you spend less time actually table selecting because it automatically does it for you. Pretty cool stuff.
