Pretty poor. Is this play money? If not, I'm taking out a loan and moving up to $10/$20.

There are times, when I know I want all my chips in the middle, and I also know that if I give it a standard raise opp's will fold, when the min raise is the most perfect bet;
1 It announces to the table that I am one of those dreaded dumb minraisers, which makes them think I am a dork....great, exactly what I wanted.
2 It seldom weeds out anyone with a decent hand. Makes it perfect when I've flopped a set, or better, turned one. This is especially useful shortly after sitting at a new table.

As much as I read around here about the evils of minraising, I find that at times it is the perfect tool. NOT ALL THE TIME OR AS A REGULAR OR STANDARD PROCEDURE. In this case, the minraise probably kept the caller in an extra round, and got that extra money. A standard raise likely would have caused that caller to fold, she did after all fold to the all in bet.

To bad rap the minraise so easily to me is like a carpenter throwing out his hammer cause he is working with screws today. It is a tool. Learn to use it.

I think OP was refering to the preflop minraise with queens by chrissyinga and not the river minraise by flat

Good point. Which minraise? My post above was geared toward the turn minraise, which had the added benefit of committing Chrissyinga.

The QQ UTG minraise by Chrissyinga was a bad choice, that's a push or call but not a place where a minraise will do anything good. And she paid the price.
