Anyone ever pretend you have a big hand and play it accordingly? Sometimes I look down at j3 and for a second think it's jj and then I decide I'm going to play this like i actually have jj.

Then you are no pretending, you fooled yourself too.

We'll if you've been playing tightly all the while you will most likely take the pot without showdown since you will likely bet hard on most boards, just don't make this a habit.

Not sure how you guys misread, I don't ever recall myself misreading my hole cards

I think it is dependent especially on emotions. When you are too relaxed you play automatically too many hands and too aggresive. But it's also dangerous not to risk something because you will end up loosing to the blinds and bad all ins.

If it's profitable to play J3 as if it were JJ you should play J3 that way and not have to pretend.

If you have pretty tight approach to the game, and your opponents know that you can easily play from time to time worse starting hands like they are big ones, being agressive on flop and river if you feel weakness in your foe you can win good pot.

either you can hit the pot and win without showdown or somebody slowrolls you and then you crash with the truth, must be careful when do it because the way people play JJ sometimes is taking risks according to the hand but if you are bluffing you can lose your stack if somebody has a strong hand

for instance, imagine you raise 3x and somebody 3bets you, what are you going to do? 4bet? shove? what if the opponent feels confident enough with his hand? what is your response? let`s say he just flat your bet, and then what? c-bet? then if he keeps calling you, you are going to lose more chips than the ones you were winning with a real JJ, so unless you are very skilled guy, named ivey or negreanu, suggest not to bluff that way,

Misreading my hand won me a PLO tournament. I got involved with a big 3 way pot for the chip lead just before the final table. I ended up getting a big draw thinking I had the nut flush draw + straight draw + full house draws but there was a lot of heat and I only called the turn because of the nut flush draw. Only after I luckily hit the boat on the river and won the pot did I realise I never had the nut flush draw, I think I was pretty much just drawing to the boat because my suited ace was actually a different suite to what I thought.

Lol been there.....Had Full Tilt setting where it only shows the top half of the cards and ended up shoving it in pre with Q8o or something (thought I had pocket queens). Pretty sure I did it again with A4 thinking I was flying high. Changed the setting and been good ever since. Pretty much just laugh at it, nothing you can do after the chips go in.
