Currently I've been playing quite a few $5 heads-up s&gs and I keep running into min-raisers. Weak preflop with everything except premium so insta-fold when they raise at all.

Then they consistently min-raise the flop turn and river, with nothing or the nuts. How do I deal with this? I've tried re-raising (with nothing often), with them flat calling on obscenely wet flops with bottom pair. On the plus side when they do have anything decent its an easy fold.

These players drive me nuts. Help

I think i may be able to help..These types of players are sometimes hard to play against because they think they have you no matter what..Play your game..Observe how they play, and use the same thing against you..Sometimes, if you have nothing, you rereaise big amounts to scare off your opponent..Just make sure he doesn;'t catch you, but if he does..Then that's fine..Do it again and eventually he'll call you when YOU have a BIG hand..You got to play smart and sometimes be patient, I believe justice is served..Haha..Good Luck at the tables..IM sure there are more people with your problem..Check out the forums for some more answers..Good Post Take Care

I always min raise pre flop (in position). Main reasons:

1- It completely hides the strenght of your hand (and if you got crap, you can get lucky sometimes:eek: )
2- It frustrates your opponent:)
3- If you have a monster and your opponents reraises you, gotcha:rolleyes:
4- If you have crap and he raises you back you fold with minimal expenditure
5- Daniel Negreanu says its the way to play:p

BTW instead of fighting it, why not try it. U may like it:D

GL and see you at the tables.

Min raises suck unless you are
1. Heads up
2. The blinds are big and you are short handed

Min raises are weak in full tables. But heads up they are pretty standard. You just have to learn to deal with it. And playing back the same way is a good way to start. I only recommend min raising playing heads up and preflop though. Every other street you should raise bigger.

5 - Daniel Negreanu says its the way to play:p

Wow. I'd really, really like to see the source on that. Because I sincerely doubt that's what he said.

Minraises are just as weak heads up as they are at a full table. All you're doing is either inviting your opponent to come over the top of you and force you out of the hand, or giving him a fantastic price to draw at you.

The implied odds in heads up play are normally huge anyway, you don't need to go making things worse by giving your opponents real pot odds too.

So like AG said, stop minraising.

the other day i saw Andy Bloch on FT playing against a min-raiser, how did he deal with it? Fight fire with fire, he also kept min raising until the other guy got tired and eventually stopped min-raising

he was pretty much holding weak hands, Ace low connectors, unsuited, etc..

I like the min raisers, keeps the pots small. I pretty much ignore the min raise and make the bet I think is right for the situation. They are trying to be a nuisance. Play position aggressively.
