you want to build a bankroll from freerolls on merge? if yes, then the only way i know is the steps and multi-table freerolls. research SNG strategy to beat the steps and MTT strategy for the rest.
the steps are probably your best bet but your going to put in 100's of hours to make only a few dollars.
it's ok to use those games as a learning tool or for fun but imo you should consider making a deposit once you feel you can beat the games. otherwise it could take a year or more before you have a roll to play the bigger games.
The micro are the most difficult because they do not think to pay you but the theme is the same for all levels apply the basics of poker and give lucky results at the tables.
The dicipline you need to grind the micro stakes is far greater than the medium levels.
you see so many bad beats so many bad and novice players making terrible moves.
The best thing is only all in with AA KK QQ
just call with any lower pair and try and avoid all in flips with ak if its not suited. You should really watch some youtube videos on these subjects.
I have a fw on my channel, Tombstonebounty I hope it helps you. theres also lots of advice here in cards chat but i strongly recoment having alot of patience
1. MTT/Cash/SpnNGo/StNGo(Sing table/HU...)... what can you play for hours?
2. what speed do you prefer? (hypers will have more varience and will require more $ but could have higher hourly $)
3. how much you've got? =) diffrent games require different BR
generally speaking - dont go turbos/hypers, mind the bank roll, no need to go fancy untill low/mid stakes just grind TAG, God bless.
for me, microstakes is all about playing tight if at a full ring, and playing much more aggressive at 6-max. I seem to find players at microstakes don't defend nearly wide enough and fold far too often to simple c-bets on the flop. Aggression is able to simply take down the pot.
