I've only been playing micro stakes cash games for 2 months now and I'm thinking these stakes are unbeatable and it makes more sense to add to your bankroll and play atleast 50c/$1 level.

For example at the 2c/5c level I grind and grind and build up only to lose big pairs to trash hands that gamble. It happens time and time.

Am I right in my assumptions or should I grind on?

Thoughts, comments, criticisms welcome.

You most likely struggle to let go when you are beat. It takes a while to get that out of your system, don't worry.

Can't really criticise without further info. Give us some more detail.

Buy in for a full stack, have some sort of rakeback. You could also try leaving the table after you double up to protect your winnings.

Rake notwithstanding, the money has to go to somebody. My comment would be that if you can't beat your current stakes, you almost certainly won't be beating higher stakes with tougher players.

Edit: Replied reading only the title and not the post (I do that a lot). It looks like you want to go from 5NL to 100NL. Disregard my previous remark. I think you should go ahead and do this as long as you tell me your sn.

Absolutely the worst thing you can do, if you cannot win at micro stakes you havent a cat in hell's chance of winning at 50c/$1.
Of course micro stakes are beatable, just face the fact you are not a good enough player to beat them yet.
Just grind, grind and more grind but NEVER move up to a higher level and pretend you can beat that before you beat a lower level, it just does not happen.
Keep grinding, asking for advice on here is a start, read as many articles on here as you can, ask questions but please do NOT move up, that is a recipe for disaster, beleive me I have tried it, is doesnt work.
Good luck.:)

Leaving the table to protect your earnings...... to me that means you play scared. Why leave a table when you're winning?

As for me letting go when I'm beat. I got in all in before the flop 4 times today and won 1 time. All 4 times I was ahead. I lost AA to J,7 suited, QQ and 10,J suited - all in before the flop all 3 times.

the only post flop loss is KK, to KQ suited when villain flushed the river.

AIPF always seemed like a spew in deepstack poker to me...
More of a short stack thing.
Am I right in thinking that?

Only if your stack is like 400bb+ is when it starts to get possibly incorrect to go all in preflop with KK. I think at 150bb+ you can already start to strongly doubt your AK and QQ versus an all in.

Well I think the only cards I would all in preflop in a cash game would be aces or kings. I still don't see my forcing a all in myself. It just seems..odd.

You have playing only 2 months and expect to be a winning player and crushing levels by now? If was that easy anyone could do it.:)

Work in your game, read books, articles, post hands, play a lot and then results should come. Is not a easy journey though.

In micro stakes everyone is extremely tight, and will only go all in with sets or better, or big pairs preflop. It's pretty much a hand comparing game in my opinion.

So the point is. Te most stupid thing you can think of is that you can beat a higher lvl than the one you are a losing player at. If you cannot beat the micros where you can have the biggest edge possible over someone, there is no way you can beat the low stakes where the difference is made by details and players doing big mistakes are uncommon. Simply you will be a sitting target and they will put the the fish tag on you after several hands. If you do not understand ABC poker how the hell will you beat players that went past this stage years ago? They will simply eat you alive.

Drop your level to 1c 2c. Try different types of games at the lowest levels, experiment and find where you can beat these fishies. Ultimate trick to building a roll is having a specific game you can beat consistently.

When your ready move up levels or go back to 1c 2c.. When you start losing again you fall back to where you were winning again. Back and forth, to better yourself you need to test yourself as well... But bankrolls build better against weaker players. Hard balance early on when learning.

Don't expect by a specific time frame your going to win ... Just relax it'll come and remain focused hand by hand.

Try to play ABC-Poker only.
Don `t gamble before u know about odds and implied odds
Read some pokerbooks and view videos. For this u should take almost as much time in the bigining as u take for playing poker itself
Remember: AA is only a pair
Do Bankrollmanagement
Dont move up in level before u are winning player

If you can't beat the micros, you certainly won't beat anything higher, fact.

Exactly, its the equivalent to saying "our Sunday League team cant win a game, so we are going to arrange a friendly against Bayern Munich to book a victory"

As said above, I would spend more time reading and watching videos about poker strategy. There is a lot of it out there that will help you. This has helped me better understand and move up limits quicker than grinding alone.

agree with 2nd post struggling to let go of hands.
''falling in love with aces as they say'' or even AK.

I prefer playing higher stakes,
to beat the micro's you need to take advantage of mistakes and stop leaks

your right though at 50NL and 100NL you know your playing poker and the players know better than to behave like a donkey, thats the reason they hold high bankrolls and play in decent tournaments

Does it really make sense that the games would get easier as you move up where there is a lot more money on the line? I don't mean to be insulting but a little common sense can go a long way...

What is more likely is that you have significant issues with your game that need to be addressed. That is why you are not winning. Not because the big bad NL5 players are so tough.
