I'm having some struggles playing micro stakes cash games. I'm not exactly sure what it is but I think one of the things that is holding me back is my confidence. I've got about $200 in my bankroll with a site that only has .02/.05 has its lowest blinds for its cash games. I'm really trying to improve my skills online, and advice that I've seen is that cash games can be best for working on your game. Any opinions? I sometimes think that b/c I only have 40 buy-ins (100 big blinds since I'm trying to be cautious) that I can't really make the moves that I want in order to go with my gut.

Thanks in advace!

well. There are some simple advices on microstakes.

1) Don't bluff because there is not so much fold equity on micro stakes. Just cbet and sometimes 2nd barrel with big equity.

2) value bet them, use bigger bet sizes. Ppl just call too much with wide range and they mostly don't look at bet sizes when they hit something
3) create your own ranges (open+defend, 3bet, call) and make proper adjust. That topic is long but I hope you know what I mean.

Anyway if you don't feel confident at cash games maybe you should try other format.

Good luck :)

If you don't have what you need to go with your gut, I'm wondering if you're scared money.

If you feel that way then I recommend grinding at NL2 (0.01/0.02) until you have $300. Then begin playing at (0.02/0.05). You will be 50% more relaxed.

Playing scared money is bad: bad hero folds and so on. I suggest starting with 2nl or change the site with a soft one. The larger the skill gap between you and opponents, the better it is.

Like other posters said, you're scared money. But perhaps you should

relax by only having a small amount on the table; ie. if you can handle a total loss of 0.50, then only bring 0.50 to table and let things proceed from there. On down side, a lot of opponents will shove, just to try to break you. Others may be able to add to what I said, consider all the posts, go with what you perceive is the best, and good luck to you.

You could take $100 of your bankroll and put it towards hiring a micro stakes coach. There's plenty out there that are worth it.

Forget making moves in the micros and believe what people tell you through their bets.ABC value poker is so important in the micros,For the most part micros is all about taking basic lines in hands. No one does to much that is that surprising. It's generic ABC poker that beats these stakes.

Change to a 1c/2c site so you have 100 buy ins. Buy in for $2 and if you lose that, stop and do a review session to find out why you lost it.

probably be best to play on a site that offers 1 cent/2 cent games--if those sites are available to you in your country--pokerstars does offer that

Micro stakes players will call you down with quite a bit, but learn to beat them before moving up in stakes.

One area where i struggle with is giving villains too much credit. Perhaps this applies to u too. I bet the same amount on most hands. I shd be betting more bwcause alot of them chase draws.

In NL2 play showdown hands on check/call flop, turn and depending on size bet river call. Never limp, never donkbet.

Do not bluff. There is not so much fold equity
Get in with something good, TPTK or over pairs
Do not play many marginal hands

I was experiencing the same thing. I prefer to play tight but my bankroll went from $100 to $4 before I thought of something. I don't know if it's what's going on with you too, but I thought I'd mention it. I'd been playing 6-max tables, where really tight play doesn't do as well (from what I understand). As soon as I switched to full ring, my same tight play started the bankroll climbing. So far. :)

Just a thought. Good luck.

Just play and you will get use to it. When you go up stakes it feels weird and I think it feels we all feel a bit of scared money when moving up stakes, but we get used to it you will too

I think play styles can be a bit misleading especially for new players. Balance is best ? Instead of too loose or too tight.you will be harder to read

Maybe your game is more suited to higher stakes, your bankroll is big enough in my opinion.

ive found at micro there is a lot less calling unless youve conditioned them by continuously playing stronger bets when youre feeling confident.

Seems to me that $200 is enough to play 0.05/0.10 NL. That's 20 buy-ins; should be enough at that level.

When I started playing micro, I was really surprised at how often I could steal blinds, and how fast that added up.

In fact, I started out by winning $10 in a freeroll, then getting that to $30. Then I tried 0.10/0.25 NL; I see now that I went too high WAY too fast with that BR. I'm back to freeroll tourneys to reacquire a BR.

Maybe this should have been a new thread. Sorry if I went too for OT.

5nl and 10nl mirco are full of nits. You can find a lots of nits tables and double up in an hour with no showdown, and hardly no pressure on you what so ever. When you get to 25nl you cant double up that way any more.

Even on zoom started off with 5 dollers and had 10 dollers in an hour with no pressure on me what so ever.
