I just discovered I may be throwing money away when in the SB versus a shortstacked BB... I don't use a tracker so not sure but it feels like I've been raising these guys only for them to move all in a lot lately.

How do you play against a shortstacked BB from the SB? When I see they're shortstacked red flags go off in my head that...if they don't auto-rebuy they probably suck so I raise with marginal KJ type hands which I end up folding to shoves...

if your not prepared to call the short stack shove then don't raise them , just fold.

^^^^^exactly that,
but i sure as hell wouldn't fold JK small stack shove if it was just us two.
If your stack is large enough just shove (most) any two cards,
27 still beats ak 30some % of the time
if he's too nitty he'll fold too many hands too (with under 10BB, expect shoves with a number of weaker hands than JK) so many free blinds avail.
you never said how much you raise vs these BBs, (could be too weak?)
I'd only small raise with premium hands hoping they shove;)
otherwise you need more aggression (shove or be prepared to call)
...or just fold, sometimes its not worth trying to steal

remember this when you're BB too
how many ppl are just stealing- is a shove likely to fold them?
you need to understand peoples ranges, pot odds, M value
if you gave more info- relative stack sizes, blinds, villain tendencies it would get you better responses:)

you should be shoving on them,....just raising 2.5x usually wont get the job done....if u shove...even if they call you still have a chance to win...thats the point of putting pressure on short stacks!!!

People realise this is cash and not tournaments right?

Basically in bvb against a short stack then you can have fairly wide stacking ranges, but that doesn't mean going crazy and open shoving any two cards since you're only trying to win 1 Bob, in tournament play this becomes correct though. With cash I'd only bet hands I'd stack off with (which would be a pretty wide range in this instance.) The rest of the time you should just let them have it and wait for s better spot.

The example you give, I'd probably willing to get it in with KJ

Does the BB realise that?
If they haven't topped up then they are probably going to play their short stack tournament style shove or fold to any raise.

If they're short-stacked and either SB or BB, they'll usually shove.

I know I would.

Go against only with strong hands. Else... snap fold!

[semi ot] ...and please consider that is pretty std to loose (overall bb/100) from sb and bb [/]

anyway
2 – Minraise the small blind when its folded to you and theres a shortstacker in the big blind.

Do this very frequently. Most of the these shorts tackers work on a push/fold basis, so even though they should basically never fold to a minraise when they are in position, they do. If the short stacker has stats like 16/16 , 21/20 etc it means they are almost always raising whenever they put money in the pot, so they will almost never flat your minraise. Exploit this.

Anyway i've found useful threads here on card chat, so please use the "search" button.

Personally I would call a shove with something like TT+, AJ+, ATs+. But I am not a cashgamer so please wait more skilled players to reply

I play Rush so no idea about tendencies.
Also, shortstack was a strong word to use, I mean medium stacks.
I'm talking about guys with around 30 - 40 bbs.
