A few things I should make clear:

-I'm not looking to play for a living. I have a steady job that pays for all of my expenses. Any money made through poker is just extra money if I ever needed it, but-for the most part-I'll be keeping my poker earnings separate.

-I'm not looking to put in a ton of hours grinding it at 200NL. At most, I'll probably only be playing ~12 hours a week given my work schedule.

-I do plan on tracking time played at the table, as well as # of hands dealt either using a click counter for an exact count or counting the number of times I'm the button and multiplying by # of players at the table for a rough estimate. This will be used to figure out my BB/100 and $/Hour over a decent sample size.

-I don't have a full BR to play 200NL, though I don't think a full BR is 100% necessary since I'll be playing for more recreational purposes than anything, but please tell me if I'm wrong. I do have 3 max buy-ins for 200NL that I've saved up that I will use to start. If I bust, it's not the end of the world and I'll just save up again and take another shot.

Now, with all that said, I'm not 100% sure if I'm ready to make the plunge into playing 200NL live again and would like to 'test the waters' before I fully commit to playing on a regular basis. So, I'd like to short buy-in into these games for the while just to get my feet wet, get accustomed to the card room (never played there) and it's players. Once I've played a number of sessions with short buys, hopefully show a profit, and feel comfortable at the tables, I will switch to full buy-ins. I think a month long of short buys is a long enough feel out period.

The card room offers 200NL (lowest NL stake) with $1/$1/$2 blinds and has a $40-$200 buy-in range. With this information and a $600 starting BR, what would you recommend for my min-max short buy-in range? I personally think between 50-75 BBs is a good start, but I'm open to suggestions. Also, if it means anything/is any help, I'm a super nit at cash games, so I wont be splashing around in a lot of pots without very strong hands.

Thanks.

They don't offer 25NL at casinos/card rooms. At least no where near me.
