context is needed
if the pot is unraised, and there are a lot of limpers, then the pot odds
justify a call with marginal hands, hoping to flop a monster cheaply. if you miss the flop you can let it go easily without having lost much.
in a raised pot, i'd probably let them go, but that depends on the opponent who raised. if they are tight, its an obvious folding situation. if they are loose, then i may call, but maybe not since i'm probably going to have to toss it on the flop.
if its an unraised pot with lots of callers, i'd go for it and see what happens. but you have to be very careful if you hit one pair, or even a flush because you might not have the nuts. in general i think the play can be profitable but you have to make sure to get a good read on your opponent, and do not risk going broke on one of these marginal hands
