I played a $1 lowball triple-draw 2-7 sit and go on Stars tonight just to try it out. Haven't been brave enough to go into the rings yet with that game. Somehow I won, but I folded 76543 with one draw left in the late going because I had no idea in hell what to do with it. It looks so pretty, but my gut told me it was complete junk. Discard the 6 and hope for an 8 or a 2? Discard the 3 and hope for the same? What do you do?

Thanks,

E

well, i'd say if you're going to play it, drop the 6, as that way you're drawing to the best possible hand, plus if you drop the 3, then either a 3 or 8 would make a straight (where as only the 6 would totally screw you if you drop that.)

congrats on the win. you're already a step ahead of a lot of the people i've seen playing in tournaments as you knew that your 76543 counts as a straight. played against someone the other day who stood pat on that hand after the first draw, friggin' hillarious

I know sweet FA about triple draw, but my first instinct was draw one to 7543, and I think this is right. Certainly discarding the 3 makes little sense unless I'm missing something. Whether a fold was best or not depends mainly on the action I think - if there are a couple of people going to town in the pot then you can probably safely fold with one draw left.

Pretty sure that discarding the 6 is the best thing to do here.

If there is anyone who has never played this game before it was opened up on pokerstars and wants to learn a few things about it the following article may be helpful to you:

Incidentally if you are ever bored read through this guys site a little, he is an.... interesting character and writes a lot of thought provoking stuff along with some general musings of someone to smart for thier own good.

Ive played very little triple draw in my time, and any decent amount ive played is years ago. From memory, its rarely correct to fold here with one draw left, discard the 6 and draw one, thats the usual correct play as the pot should by the nature of the game at this stage be large. Now if it been a checked/small pot its an easy fold.
