Low limit holdem strategies

hey guys, I like to play 2/5 limit holdem games at live casino games and I usually end up breaking even after playing for a a few hours. Im not too concerned with the money i just enjoy playing at the casino, but i'm wondering if anyone has any good strategies that they use in these games that might help me make a few bucks.

One strategy that I have found very useful is to play ridiculously tight for the first hour or so (folding everything but JJ or better and only playing your blinds). After that, on the button I'll raise with anything (especially if I get a small raise in front of me, or like 4 or 5 callers for the BB). If people have been paying attention (which at that level most of them are) they'll assume you have AA or KK and either fold or call very gingerly. either way you should be able to take down a nice pot if someone does call. Only problem is if you miss the flop be careful not to bet at it automatically.

in low limit 2 to 5 i think it depends really when you play. early in the morning when their trying to generate tables you tend to play against the poker props whom always play extremely tight. i like to play against them very aggresive because their payed by the hour and dont make that much and whatever money they do play with is theirs. although when they do play you already know they got monsters. at night on the other hand though i play the opposite because you have your looser younger and experienced crowd who will chase hands if they have already established a bankroll. so when i play i like to start early and gain a good table image then when the props are gone tighten up and try to read the players and hopefully get a good bankroll going b4 the night ends

Guess it depends where you're playing. At Foxwoods and the Mohegan Sun in CT that last advice will have you stacked quick. 2/4, 3/6, and 4/8 is no-foldem-holdem. Then name of the game is flop em or fold em. Top pair is crap, overpair is too. You play pairs, suited connectors, and big value cards cheaply to a flop, and if you slam the flop bet it down and get paid, or if not then use pot odds to determine if you value bet, check/call, or check/fold. Be very wary of draws and any ace as they just don't know any better, and are often correct anyway to call down or bet down with weak draws because the odds get huge quick. Also the opponents don't pay any attention as you've probably gathered so only bother raising AA, KK, QQ, and AK for the most part, widening out a bit as position improoves. Also position is HUGE at tables like this, as you will be able to easily control how the hand goes with simple tricks like raising the flop bet in position to get a free pass to a river, or if you're lucky enough to have a maniac using him to punish the crap out of all the loose callers when you hit. Of course I'm no pro, but I am a big winning limit player at Foxwoods particularly.

i like to use that free ride to the river trick by betting on the flop if im 4 cards to a straight/flush. i find even if you have a player bet $2 then you raise to $4 he will call you and check on the turn 9 out of 10 times. and of course if you get a raise back or if they come back at you on the turn then you're probably drawing dead already lol

I'veGOTouts has the right strategy. Play tight, control the pot size if you don't have the nuts, and play position. If you flop top pair, you're either way ahead or way behind. Some guy is playing A 4 off-suit and will go to the river hoping to hit his 4. The problem is not one donk in the pot, but 4-6 of them. It's ahrd enough to beat one, but with 4-6 of them in each pot, A A is a drawing hand. I hope your 2/5 game is better than the 2/4 and 3/6 limit games that I play live.
