i just started to play live games in casinos and i'm doin fairly well... i started at 2/4 and worked my way up to 3/6... i'm wondering if i'm consistently winning in 3/6 when would i knoe to move up another level to 4/8?

my friend does very well at a 3/6 table goes broke in about 2 hrs at a 4/8 table is there really that much of a differencee in betting?

Yes according to what I can remember you are supposed to bring for money wise about 100X the BB.. Someone correct me if I am wrong. However yes there is a diffrence in levels I think of what type of people/personalities you run into.

something you might want to do when you move up in tables or just move tables in general is not to post the BB right away but watch the table for a few rounds to see how they are playing.

watch what starting cards are being selected and how they are playing them. see if they are playing position. do they like to chase. do they ovevalue a pocket pair or A with low kicker.

get a feel of a table before you start puting money into it, will help you to lessen your loses when you move up.

100x the BB is what you want to bring to the table. It sounds like alot but really is not. In a 3/6 game if you just call at each point you are in for $18. Try when you have AA and get action and cap each round, 12+12+24+24=72 (heads up in some places there is no cap to the reraises). The last thing on earth you would want is to be holding the nuts and someone betting into you and you are forced to call because you did not bring enough money to the table. I have had hands where I had put in over $100 in a 3/6 game after the river (I had the nuts) and would have hated to have to say all in because I ran out of money before they were done paying me off.

The 100x BB rule is a marker for knowing when to move up levels. Generally you should be able to take anywhere from 4-7 nights of complete loses and still be ahead.

gf is completely correct,my advice is not to move up until you can sustain a bad week at the level you are playing. You will get pushed off hands to easily if you're worried about losing too much.

that is correct, if you want to play 5/10 you need a bankroll of 1000, but you do not have to buy in 1000 when u sit down. 200-300 is very sufficient to sit down with. If i saw a guy at a casino sit down with 1000 at a 5/10 limit game i would laugh. You can always rebuy, u dont have to sit down with you whole bankroll, lol. GL and i hope you beat the pants off the 4/8 game...
