I've noticed that in .05/.10 no-limit ring games that some folks are multi-tabling, 8, 12, even 24 tables but they only buy in for $2.00 when the max is 10. What is the stratagy behind this? The only thing I can think of is that they aren't afraid to call or go all in and can double up easily. Anyone here that does this? Is that the stratagy?
Thanks,
Tom

They are most likely just sitting around and waiting for premium hands and then just shoving with them preflop.

It's called the "shortstack strategy" and according to Ed Miller, in his book "Getting Started in Hold 'Em," it can turn a beginner into a winning player immediately (if you follow his system religiously). Playing a big stack is for more advanced players. Beginners can get themselves into more trouble with a big stack. Basically, with the shortstack strategy, you're trying to limit the betting rounds to just two. That way you'll negate better players' skill advantages in later betting rounds.
