So I've been planning to make a thread for a while, figured I'd do it now since my new laptop has arrived. Hopefully it will be a place to post hands document life/poker progress and keep me honest about my own abilities.

Those who don't know me I'll give a brief overview. I'm 19 year old chess player who decided to give poker a shot for the intellectual stimulation and discovered that I can actually make money playing. Built a number of rolls up via no deposit bonus' and freerolls more times than I care to count but never found myself having more than 500 or so because I kept needing to withdraw every time I made a few hundred to due to life expenses.

anyway decided to give the laptop a quick test run, downloaded pokertracker and I'm using the free trial, I haven't been able to play with a hud for ages and now I am it's looking like it's going to be very useful.

Just played 2 tables of rush because 2nl Rush is so lol soft, alot easier than stars. did ok I guess but wasn't playing my A game. I think I was a less aggressive in spots I'd normally apply tons of pressure and think I could get thin value from like second and third pair in spots where villains weak ranges are face up. lost a bit over a buy in in one massive blowup, plus a couple of coolers but meh.

Well I had been planning on updating this more but I've played precious little poker since making this thread. I've probably played about 1.2k hands since my last post, however I seem to be having problems with pokertracker, it wont give me my hands now. I dont know why since the hud seems to work alright, although the hud is back to appearing above the wrong person anyone know why this might be?

One reason I haven't been playing much is because I've been getting more shifts at work which is a good thing, I'll take a consistent $19.20 an hour over an inconsistent few $$ an hour I can get playing the micros.

Was also going to spend most of yesterday grinding but ended up going down to the local leagues club where there is a game that happens on Saturdays. In my town there are pub tournaments that happen everyday of the week and some days there are more than one game. I dont normally play that many because most of them have poor structures and normally cost from $11-$40 with high variance, no matter how terrible the players are. Thought I'd give yesterday a go though since it's more about having fun than making profit, plus I do alright with the games by this organiser, probably becuase the players are more a mix of passive fish and nits/scsared money which is lowere variance buy the aggro whales and spewtards of some other games.. $1 buy in $5 rebuys and 5 or 10 add on. only cost me 10 bucks and I played well ended up with $60 for second plus a discount on the game that night.

So I played at the next venue that night which was a $23 freezeout but $5 off for me for playing both games. It was absolutely insane how well I ran. I ran better than Jamie gold in the 06 main event. at the final table I was picking up PPs 2 3rds of the hands. I had Aces 3 times, Kings twice, queens 3 times, Jacks twice, 10s, 9s twice and other pps a bunch as well or I'd open KQ get jammed on by a short stack and he'd have K10. on the bubble a short stack jammed JJ and I called with 88 and hit an 8 on the flop. I hit sets like 4 times one of them the guy limp called my raise with K7 only for the flop to come K74 when I'm holding 77. Hu the first hand the other guy jamms J10 and I snapped him off with KJ for about $180 win. No doubt I'll run like shit for the next few weeks though :p

Anyway I know that this isn't about cash but Hopefully I'll get back on the grind soon and start posting hands which is what this thread is mainly about. I was also thinking that with this extra cash plus my extra shifts I've been getting at work I'll have a couple of hundred extra bucks to spare when my pay comes in on monday, Should I just deposit and move up to like 5 or 10nl?
Theres another game on today $22 deepstack freezeout so well see if I can keep my run good going.

felt like playing some zoom, didn't really go all that well, finished around break even, there were some coolers and shitty spots but what can you do. I was playing 4 tables at a time so ~1k hands per hour

Thoughts?

10. Really Want opinions on this one. This hand felt really sick since I'm oop with very deep stacks and the players stats are so friggen loose. To be honest I think this put me on tilt a bit because I started to play hands poorly after this so quit not long after.

1: You said it best.

2: 3bet PF? Otherwise looks fine.

3: Thinking he semi-bluff raised OTF? Or do you think it's a set? I feel like TJ is more likely.

4: Same hand.

5: Swap turn and flop betting sizes (by %).

6: MP had AK at best, clearly. Only one set of AA or KK left at that point, so I can see the justification.

7: Yes.

8: Don't bet smaller OTR than you did OTT.

9: Check turn.

10: Call. His sample size is miniscule, so stats are irrelevant, but it sure looks like AK. Could very well be KQ, but with the sporadic nature of their play, I'm willing to find out. You're gonna get a lot more AK/KJ than KQ or KT, imo. May have flopped a straight draw and rivered a pair? This villain doesn't appear to be the giving in type.

Overbet didn't seem right so decided to bluff catch and if I'm good on the flop I'm probably good on the turn but I'm not sure if this is too spewy since they're repping an overpair. obviously folding to a triple barrel

I think I should work on my play against players with this sort of stack size since had they been 100bb deep I'd have 3bet pre and as played would raise the flop cbet, I think though that raising the flop cbet is probably still better even with the effective stacks what they are.

Posted this hand in my thread (click my signature to visit) because as it was happening, I was thinking of your 88 hand above. It's very, very similar except that in this case, we do face a third barrel and we did go multi-way, though that came to a halt OTT.

As I see it, it's almost identical to the idea you had going on with your 88 hand. I do see how a flush could have been made here, but are they betting so strong on a draw (it happens plenty) or do they happen to have turned a set (as the betting kind of swells OTT)?

I think you played your 88 hand perfectly, but since you said you'd likely fold to a third barrel, are you suggesting that this situation is a fold? It sure seems airy.

Also, for the KJ hand, bet bigger OTT. Both hands are well played otherwise.

Bear in mind These were zoom hands which plays alot nittier than the games on merge I'd imagine. People at these stacks dont triple barrel air as much as you think. of course there are players spewing off but in general a triple barrel on this texture is going to be an overpair a set or like overs that made the backdoor flush. having said all that I actually do think I should be good here a % of the time so if they bet river it really depends on the sizing. if they make three big bets its snap fold but the fact they over bet the flop then bet half pot on the turn tells a story, not entirely sure what though.

Decided to try some reg tables since I should probably make the move now I can play from laptop. Only played 6 tables which was pretty easy to keep up with since I'm used to playing 4 tabling zoom at ~1k hands per hour. I felt pretty good about my play. My graph is a little different from usual, my red line is actually showing higher profit than my blue line, mostly a sample size thing and alot of it is due to the fact that I had a somewhat lag reg on my right on 3 tables. He would use position relentlessly but had exploitable betting patterns, he would be agressive often but would fold a ton when facing agression. Plus he would min raise steal from the sb 100% of the time so I just 3bet atc and he wasn't adjusting. Or I would flat him and outplay him postflop.

my blue line suffered a bit to some coolers i.e a running a set of jacks into a set of queens or having an overpair vs a fish where most of the money is already in by the turn turn only to find the turn gave thier 7,4 two pair. I think I'll look to play more reg tables from now on and I'll probably start adding tables as well.

entered a $1 rebuy to wcoop event 1 102 entrants top 5 won a seat and 6th won $56.51. managed to win entry and never even rebought once, not even at the start when you can double rebuy.

Now the question is weather to play or take the tourney$$

I feel like I should take the $$ because $109 is a large chunk of change compared to my roll which is'nt much more than that. On the other hand I really want to play the tourney especially as it's one of the few big events that start at a reasonable time for me.

Take the $T imo, plenty of small buy-in mtts on Stars with large prize pools that would be more suitable for you roll if you want to play some mtts.

And it's super easy to sell t money at face. I mean there is lots of material on this but if you weren't rolled to play the event, you shouldn't when satty. Since to not register originally it was not +EV why is it now +EV to play it?

*Sigh* You guys are killing my dream!

But yeah thinking it through I realise It would be a mistake to play when I can just sell most of the money and use it to move up in cash.

And it's super easy to sell t money at face. I mean there is lots of material on this but if you weren't rolled to play the event, you shouldn't when satty. Since to not register originally it was not +EV why is it now +EV to play it?

It wasn't +ev to enter before because if I entered and busted out, my bankroll would be close to busto however if I entered now I'd still have a roll and be nowhere near busto. The main reason I played the satty was because I figured it would be soft and I could just unreg if I won. However when I checked the event I saw that it had a great structure 5k starting chips with 20 minute blinds and it's a major two day event that actually starts at a good time for me which is so rare. combine that with the fact that I feel really confident about my my mtt game these days and I'm sure I would make correct decisions in the event. It left me with a strong desire to play, much stronger than other tourneys since I really want to play a major event seeing as I so rarely get to play high buy in games and ones that actually start at a time I'd be able to play my A game.

Thanks guys. I'll most likely take the $$. Afterall it would suck to lose the entry then realise I could have instead added the money to my roll, I'd only be like 1/6 to cash anyway.

Decided that I should pick a stake and put all my volume in on one site, so decided I'm going to be putting pretty much all my volume on stars. The better competition will help my learning curve plus they have a good rake/vip program .

So withdrew $120 from 888 which should be in skrill within a couple of days plus moved back $30 or so from full tilt, that plus the money from the wcoop satty has me rolled to play 10nl at about $300.

So figured I'd give 10nl a shot and played a shortish session, only 4 tabled for about 600 hands. The good news is that there are plenty of fish in the games. Overall it's alot more agressive than 2nl and 5nl but still pretty easy to beat. there are probably a little bit more regs but alot of them are spewy anyway and seem to go nuts in spots without properly considering ranges or what they're repping. it does mean more marginal spots though.

got coolered in one pot where my KK got outdrawn by tptk but got it back when my set of kings got in vs flopped flush and I made the boat

Faaaark. Had a bunch of hands in some interesting spots I was going to post but accidently closed tables so it wont show them now. not sure if it's because of free trail or if I'm doing something wrong. Oh well :( heres the session graph anyway. figure I'll play more 10nl over the coming days and I'll add tables to see if I can find a good number.
