I am the most disciplined live player that I can possibly imagine myself to be. However online is a whole different story and I really don't know why. If I was as discipled online as I am live I'll prolly have 2x the bankroll I have right now and it really makes me feel sick.

I have burned quite a lot of BI in sheer frustration where as in live poker the maximum thing I might do in frustration is to make a loose call pre flop.

One of the reasons I have thought is that in online poker you keep getting more chips to play until your balance runs out and if you have a substantial roll then you really become careless. Where as in live poker I have to pay for a buy in from my pocket right there.

I also believe that staring at a computer screen for hours playing multiple tables can take into a weird state of mind where you are clicking clicking and clicking. You can end up doing it without thinking too much.

But in live poker you are sitting in a real world and you actually have to say all-in or put all the chips in the middle which means you are less likely to do something completely bizarre.

Is this something you have experienced as well? My friends are all in awe of my live poker discipline but little do they know what I do sometimes in online poker lol.

I totally feel what you are saying. its like online they are just numbers and you have to make the connection that its real money on the screen. I have no problem punting money off online, but live is a completely different stofy.

I started playing poker at live games. Plays and games there follows standards/booklines. Results there follow statistics/probabilities.
Online, its complete reversal.

This post is borderline rigtard

Are you playing the micros online such as 2NL or 5NL?

I play 25NL online and notice when I go to 5NL I get quite loose and slightly careless because my mental state says "It's only $.15"

I could only imagine going from 1/2NL in the casino to the micros, it is just hard to take it seriously. Try looking at it in terms of BB's instead of $.

Ya this is a problem. I moved to 10NL recently and I am having problem pulling 3 barrels because I think of the money instead of the actual situation. 5NL I was playing far more fearlessly.

How often are you 3 barreling? Plays like that are dangerous at the microstakes since a lot of the players dont like folding.

Well I don't do it too often and I only attempt it against regs that even if I got caught at least they would take notice which might help me later when I make a monster.

I bluff fish only when I am tilting as I know fully well I should not do that.

But you are probably right its not really worth it at this level. Although I believe if you are not gonna bluff big you might as well stop C-betting with nothing altogether. A lot of players call your C-bet on the flop only to fold on the turn. And then the same thing can apply on the river. If you have completely missed the hand and have absolutely no chance of winning at SD then I really believe you gotta 3 barrel. It really sucks when someone takes the pot with a Q high missed draw just because you couldn't 3 barrel.
