My local casino has now become easy access to me the last few months as I'm a fresher in uni about 5/10 minutes bus away! I'm going to keep this brief:

1. Avg opening raise is 6x.. Yes.. meaning that some people open raise 10x!! I think I'm the only person who opens 3x out of the regs

2. People call ins to purposely bad beat those that they don't like.. Example: hero has AA 80BBs deep, gets 4 bets pre because he is a student and this guy thinks he's the dogs bollocks.. Hero flats, There's around 70BB in the pot.. Board comes out q37r, hero shoves, villain calls with kjo, believe it or not he actually got the back door but it's besides the point, (I am not hero) (friend of mine)

3. There's an avg of 6/7 hands to a flop..

4. Multiway value of nut hands is easy to achieve.. People can't leave things go!

5. Many of the players have 3/4 bullets back so the fun keeps going

6. people calling %20 stack pre with suited connectors ('But they're suited:(!!!)'

There are many more along the lines of fish/donk/stations but that would be an essay.

Cons:
1. There's one mega strong LAG type who sits down 200Bbs deep and won't leave anyone on the table alone, he pulls this off in such a way that EVERYONE is scared of him!:')

2. Many players slag you off for playing nitty and speak about your hands as of you don't play anything but aces

3. You have to put up with player constantly talking bullshit strategy and ignoring reverse implied odds, stack sizes etc!

I won't mention exactly where my local is, as it's my unburied treasure:/

Discuss.. Anyone else have a gold mine???? Uk based mind!

You've described almost every 1/2 NL live game in the world. Fishy, loose, awful skill levels, straight gamblers.

apparently ive been uninformed, haha. I used to play 1/2 live last year but now that im in Virginia instead of Kentucky(travel 30 mins to Indiana) it takes alot longer to get to Atlantic City or Charlestown which has persuaded me to play more online.

I played a lot of 1/2 nl live for a while. My experience is that in general the players are not very experienced. It appears to me that a lot of people will call light preflop especially if there are a couple of callers in front of them. I routinely open to at least 5x pre otherwise the whole table will call you. Postflop play appears fairly predictable and more passive.

You can definitely win a lot of money very quickly in these games. But, sometimes you can also get crushed in some sessions when running below expected value and with so many people to every flop.

The only thing that really bugs me about live poker sometimes is how slow the game is. I just am rally familiar with 4 tabling 6max games online.

I was playing in a pretty tight game, and I was folding 19 of 20 hands. I started to feel like they were going to get annoyed, but who cares? I'm not the one reloading for more chips, sukka.

Also, playing tight allows you to later bluff some pots once they think, oh snap, if he's calling, he must have Aces.

The last 1/2 game I played in, the typical pre-bet was like $5-$12. Many times, it stayed at $2. And average 2-3 hands stayed for the flop. Seems like a much tighter game than yours.

I actually made a thread about this on another forum wondering if I was just running hot as hell, or actually dominating. At this point, I'm nearly 90% that I'm dominating. If you have played a considerable amount of poker online and are familiar with value betting, some hand reading, not over-valuing your hand and just capable of making good folds...you are leaps and bounds above the rest. IMO the live 1/2 games equate to something around .05/.10NL online...although I think most 5/10NL regs would probably crush 1/2 Live....
Patience is the main thing that I can preach to you. Set mine (always raise pre with any pp since you are going to get way more than 8/1 when you hit) and Value bet the crap out of your hands. Stay away from hero calls against the spewy maniacs and wait for them to make the mistakes...cause they will...

like 99% of live 1-2 players could not beat 2 NL.

Can you explain this with an example?

I'm down about $300 playing live tournaments. In the games I play, I don't have the same type of players.

Lets put it this way if they were really any good they would be sat at home grinding 4-6 even 10 tables at a time. instead of blowing a few hundred quid a month in a casino

The fact that 95% of them think the word bankroll management is something to do with their bankcards acutely indicates on poker terms we are playing people border line retard level of competition if we were to define it to strategy.

No disrespect they may be very good at their jobs. but as a majority in my experience the casino regs are to stubborn to learn to small minded to grasp the concept of how much continuous effort you need to make to become a life long winner
