So i was looking around my area for poker rooms and came up with this. Do you think this is a good structure to play? They charge a $10.00 fee to enter the poker room that's how they make their money , and i think they set this up this way to get around the state rules because it's not on a Indian Reservation. Would we just buy in max $100.00 then top it off when we lose like $10 or $20 ?? what do you guys think of this??? Thanks, also it would be a 50Big Blind game so how do we play this type of game profitably??/

Sounds dumb as hell. It's a cash game, but one that only lasts an hour.... I would rather sit at the regular cash tables so I could put in longer than a 1 hour session.

As far as only being 50BB deep, that isn't a big deal because that is how everyone else's stacks are as well. You might see some people treat this type of tourney like they would with a rebuy, getting it in with better marginal hands to either double up or rebuy, but that is not the right strategy for a tourney that you will only playing for an hour and it's straight chip equity cashout.

In that hour, expect to only see probably 30 or so hands, is that enough for you?

I would say it isn't worth it unless it is your only option, even then...

So you're paying $10 in rake to play 1 hour of 50bb (if you're lucky) poker?

Well no i think you can play for hours but every hour they break it up give you your winnings then you have to buy back in again. They only charge the $10.00 fee once at the door

Are you sure about that? Still sucks that stacks never get the chance to get deep since an hour of live poker is like 30 hands at most.

Still not sure it would be beatable but if you can play for hours $10 rake is very reasonable.

Is that rake really that out of the ordinary? I don't know the average pot sizes, so doing the math isn't realistic, but in Vegas the standard rake is 10% up to $5 a hand, and here they are also essentially charging 10%.

Assuming you get 30 hands per hour, which I admit is probably on the high side, the average pot size would have to be $30 to "break even" compared to Vegas.

Edit: I see now it's a daily fee. While I do agree on the whole shortstacking issue and the problem that creates with profitability, the rake is clearly fair if you play a while. If you got 100 hands in, you would only be paying $1 a hand in rake which is far less than Vegas,

Oh yeah for a typical full stacked game even if it was $5 / 30 minutes it would be fine.

I don't like this format at all. For me, cash games are all about waiting for the right cards in the right position. About 30 hands per hour with 7 runners and thats only about 4 orbits. Even if you do run good early, the chances someone else will also have built up a decent stack worth fighting for are slim. Not sure what "play typically lasts 1 hour" means? It either does or it doesn't right?

I would never play this.

Unless there wasn't another game. :)

Well this is 35 minutes from home and about 5 minutes form work, the Indian Casino is like 2 hours away. I think u play an hour ,then they stop so if you have $150.00 then i guess you put $50.00 in your pocket and use the $100.00 for the next hour session not 100% sure how this works but that's what it sounds like to me.

You know what would be great. Instead of just giving an opinion, if we all put our heads together and came up with the best strategy to play this format.

We could make ALL IN CLUBS the $40-100 $1/2 hour long tourney Master.

Just a thought.
