I have started playing a local cash game. Pretty much same 8-10 guys. There are 3 total gamblers. They say not strategy to poker. The call every preflop raise. So if I miss on flop they won't even fold to cbet. $.25/.50 stakes $20 buy is rules. I have made some money, but what does anyone have best strategy advice? I think I can out play them post flop if dry board.

IMO 40bb max bi, not much room there to outplay tbh if they are gambling that much. It's short stack push/fold poker in most cases unless you build a stack and wind up in hands with only other big stacks (>100bb).

Good Luck with it.

I did read not to preflop raise if it just won't work. I have watched others limp with big hands and get paid big after flop or turn. Those 3 seem to never fold. So if draw heavy board I usually get out. So going to try see cheap flop with big hands button or cut off. With top 2 pairs if in blinds try to steal pot. Supposed to play opposite so I will go super tight & good position. Make bets to get them off week draws. Figure if I folded all night it would take 40 hands to lose all money sure to win a few in that time. Deal is slow 20-25/hr.

You can't really do much with 40BB. Just stay really tight, play position, and be aggressive with premiums preflop. You'll have to deal with the high variance that results from the 40BB max.

If you know they will call everything the take them to the cleaners when you do get your hand. You just said the winning strategy, they call everything and don't fold! Look at the flops then if you hit start raising and betting everything. Get out of hands that you are trying to buy!

Yeah, if they don't fold, just don't ever bluff. Value bet when you have a made hand.

i recommend playing aggressive if you start out hitting hands and -especially- if they go on tilt. in addition, bet high with the continuation bet everytime -especially- if you are bluffing after they called when you had the nuts. they will fold.

second thing, pick a pattern and stick to it for awhile then mix it up, every couple cycles and you should do well. just dont get trapped bluffing, when you have the nuts its easy to watch their calling action on their contiuation bets.. pay attention to them and then you can know if you can bluff them if you miss. gl

Thanks for the advice guys. These gamblers never preflop raise & with $20 starting stack they have not even folded to $5-6 raises preflop. If they lose their money in few hands they just buy in again & again. So I play Friday night will try a different approach and let you know how it works.

The thing I would suggest is don't C-bet with total air. If you know that they're gonna call with ridiculous hands anyways, what's the point?

That's one of the biggest things that I did in my live game, and it has certainly helped me. Best of luck

I know bluffing don't work. They mainly like to chase flush & straight draws. I have won some good pots with 2 pair or a set. I will get better was just playing ABC poker. This helps me learn to adapt to different players. One mental note I have is when biggest gambler not there the other 2 seem to fold more hands easier.

Yeah, since stacks are so small you shouldn't really be chasing anything. Either you have it preflop and/or on the flop OR you don't and fold. Those guys calling down everything will get lucky and hit, but not always. When you have the goods, get your money in.. it should be easy with the $20 max BI.
Get it in good more often than not, and you should show a profit.

Here is last nights results. 3 hours play +$30. I made 3 bad calls because I broke my own rule don't call on river without the nuts they don't bluff. That cost me $15 I could of had. Play position first limped in and hammered flop on draws. Otherwise hammered turn to get hand over I hardly seen river card with pots I won. So if I could go +$30 or better twice a week would be very happy, plus my thought process is getting better. Thanks for advice.

40 bb is not a lot in cash games but it is an ok stack in tourneys. I would 3bet jam preflop a lot. I would use the go and go a lot. I would definitely be prepared to bring 5-10 buyins. It's an aggressive strategy but given those rules it's the only way to play it.

live cash game

The way player's play the poker game is by pure luck and hope. They think if the hit flop or their opponent missed they can win the hand.

Grunch:

Bruh.... You aren't outplaying anyone. Read the bolded. In fact if you have to ask the question how to beat a certain player (which isn't the right question to ask fwiw) then you aren't out playing anyone in any game.

All that said... Focus on getting big fat value. Work on bet sizing and hand reading. Get those down and you will own them. Worry less about FE and out playing anyone.

Who writes the bolded. I was asking how to beat that style of game not certain person. I have learned seat position at table. I am working on betting for value just doing more of it post flop, which I have to read hands better. We all know certain hands hate 6+ players in pot and some work good. I keep working at it after 3 games I am +$128. Thanks to all advice enjoying game and notice how certain parts getting better.
