Just wanted to get opinions on this… I used the WTP Poker trainer App on my phone and changed my pre-flop play slightly last session and didn't get good results. I didn't lose tremendously, but I didn't play some hands that I normally would have…

See, say I get KJs and I'm faced with a standard raise ($10-15 in a 1/3 game) and one caller and I'm in the small small blind. Normally, I would play a hand like this if my opponents weren't tight, but according to the app, since there was a raise and a call by opponents in later position, I shouldn't play this hand because they "Indicated" they have a good hand already.

However, if the game is very loose and these players aren't tight players, is a call justified here? Basically, do you go more by feel or by a uniform tight pre-flop strategy in situations like this?

Please indicate if you are a consistent winning player in your reply if you can. I am trying to improve my game, so if you could indicate your skill level/experience it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!!

I'd wanna know stack sizes, villain tendencies like cbet frequency, where the raise came from, what his raising range is from that position, what position flatted him, if he's done this before what kind of hands he showed after flatting a raise in front, and what hands these guys will stack off with to name a few.

In a vacuum, I'm folding. Players horribly underestimate how -EV playing OOP is.

I think they also overestimate their ability to outplay villain postflop, and overestimate implied odds. It's so hard to extract OOP, it's just a bad spot to be.

I wouldn't bother asking people to indicate if they're a winner, just think critically about the advice given and see what makes sense to you. Your responses are almost guaranteed to be skewed to "of course I'm a winner". Fwiw, I don't even play anymore so I'm not a winner or a loser.

If I play this hand here I am re-raise big preflop.
I know that wasn't your question but if your flat calling here your better off holding something like 22 with implied odds to call. Also you can easily fold on flop to anything but a set.. With KJ you could actually hit something and go broke. Play a hand you can toss on the flop or re-raise to represent pre-flop. . Really rather re-raise 78suited here than calling with Broadway cards . I want a hand I just much with no thought if I miss. Still I think I re-raise or fold.

KJs in the small blind is OK. but if you play it go for the straight or the flush. if you hit a king or a jack you could be behind AJ.JJ.AK.KQ.KK or AA there's a multiple combinations.

Thanks a ton! Now how about KJo? Still a decent hand in early position. I feel like this can still be played depending on your opponents in the hand. Am I wrong?

A reraise is a good play. Even if your opponent has AK, if you reraise with KJo and c-bet the flop, then there's a good chance the opponent will fold if they missed the flop, which happens 70% of the time.
