At my local casino the max BI at the $1-$2 is $80, since I am not use to playing short stacked poker how should I adapt to that type of game??

the basic premise is as follows:

the shorter-stacked that you are, the more big hole cards matter. suited connectors and small pocket pairs rely more on implied odds and should be avoided.

So sitting at these tables is it really just looking for monsters and trying to get it in Pre???

I have never saw a live game that had a limit on the buy in. Maybe I live under a rock, but my local casino isn't like this and I have played at at least a handful of other rooms and never came across something like that either.

Pretty much yeah but you can play more than just the big premium pairs. There are some good articles to read if you search 'short stack strategy'.

Yeah I looked at that but found nothing for cash games, or will the Tourney strategies be just as good for that type of play???

I couldnt agree more on this statement.. I always buy in for $80 at $1/$2 and use this strategy.. But My question is.. as my stack grows, At what point do I start playing suited connectors and small pocket pairs?

Hmm. the floor manager in that casion don't know his job. In my local casino, blinds are $2sb $4bb you are able to buy-in with max $1500. How you should play in your situation. My answer is: play like you just lost half of stack in bad beat. ;);)

Most Casinos cap the buy-in but $80 for a $1/$2? Yuck! I play at Foxwoods. The $1/$2 is capped at $300. The minimum you can sit down with is $60. Hell, just shove everytime you're in position with a pair or a big ace.

*walks in late*

You're playing at Crown, right? Yeah, they keep dicking around with the buyins there. They'd finally fixed $2/$3 so you could buy in for $300 max, then they changed it to $1/$3 with a $200 max.

$1/$3 is the closest you'll get to a proper full stack game there at the moment without going all the way up in stakes. IIRC the rake structure is also better than $1/$2.
