Hello guys! This is my first post here and it is something that bothering me long ago. I am playing live cash 0,5/0,5 at a local poker room at the moment. I am playing poker for 8 years but now I decide it's time to take poker more seriously. I took an online poker course, I have my bankroll and I am ready to go. My goal is to grind as many as I can and then move up stakes.
The thought that bothers me is the rake where I play. It is 5% with 20 euros cap. I found that 20 euros cap super bad for 0,5/0,5 and I don't know if I can beat it. Has anybody some idea about live cash rakes that can help me? I mean, is there a formula that can determine if the game has value or not depending on rake?
Some additional information: This poker room is 10 minutes from my home so I don't have any transportation cost. They have rakeback policy: They write down the hours you play and in the end of the month they give 500 to the first, 400 to the sec etc until the 10st.
Thank you in advance for your answers!

The rake is a nasty beast and it sounds even nastier in your neck of the woods. I choose to have a very simplistic view of the rake: if I leave with more money than I came with than I've had a good game. I'm live in America so I don't understand the exchange rate for the euro but your rake does sound terrible except for the fact that you get some back. This rake back promotion is the problem why yours is so high. My local casino here I play $3/$6 limit hold'em and the rake can't be beaten. They take 4% of the pot up to a certain amount and then a rake of the pot for the "bad beat" jackpot and high hands of quads or better. So if the dealer can get 30-40 hands in an hour and I sit there for 3 hours and the table is always full, I'm seeing well over $500 leave the table to the casino. in a full ring game that means that half the table's money goes to the casino in my short session. (average buy-in is about $100). It seems that the table would go broke. I also tip the waitress and cage as well as the dealer. Plus you have to account to making up the blinds. I don't think players account for the blinds you pay. Now I don't know how it works overseas but here in my local casino the rake doesn't change from one game to the next. So the rake is the same at $3/$6, $1/$2 or $20/$40, Hold'em or Omaha. So the pots get bigger at the other tables but the rake is the same. I consider the rake a form of tax. But would one want to pay a $20 tax on a $30 pot or $20 tax on a $1000 pot? It all comes down to your comfort level. And if your going to put in hours on end then getting the rake back ever month may be worth the extra price.
