How bad if you left the table after you won especially a big pot?

I know and that is really anoying when they don't give you a chance to win it back. You have to remember that if you just had lucky and you know that you didn't make a chance against your opponents you would leave to.

You can take it as a complement that he left. It means that he thinks you are to good to play against.

Players don't like it, but they can't do anything about it it. You won't make many friends. I've seen many play hit and run at my local place, wait the required amount of time and just come back to the table with their small initial buyin again.

If I want to leave I'll always wait until the next BB comes around and leave just before. Won big pot or not I don't think it should matter, it's your call don't worry about it.

everything depends on the time that elapses when you leave the table while longer but the blinds increase .

I would expect that would be the end of that group of players having a good opinion of the player that did it. Future action would probably dry up as far as that group is concerned.

And what bad to leave the game after a big win? We're playing to make money. Exit the game when all is lost is much worse

It's called etiquette, manners. It's a douche move - at least wait an orbit.

as a floor I wish I could chain players to the table and have it be a 60 minute minimum no matter what you win, but apparently thats against the law - stupid America - but as a player I have rights and it's my right to walk at any time - it is douche as hell and I would never do it. If I won big right away I would wait at least an hour - fold every hand if you want its super minimal, have a drink or two, then leave if I didnt like the game.

The actual question asks if it is bad right after a big pot, well it depends on how long you have been at the table. if youre near the end of a session then maybe just till the button passes you should suffice, or if you were on button, last hand should be UTG.

You should NEVER walk away from the table because you just won big anyways unless you were already going to stop, why would you - very foolish, this aint no table game.

Worst poker etiquette ever, this shows that the play is afraid of playing when having a little behind him. I would rather be slow rolled, especially if it is my money then they take up and leave. I do just realize that they are terrible and have to hit and run to be able to have any chance in this game.

There's this old dude, he frequents Motor City Casino. He is a poker player (obv).

Some call him "hit and run Mo".

He plays 2/5 NLHE. He will whack someone for a couple hundred or more, and get up immediately.

He will than make his exit statements, lIke:

"Man you guys are the worst players I've ever seen in my life! See you later, suckers!" And he drops the mic.

Then he comes back in an hour or so. Rinse and repeat.

All he plays is huge hands preflop. If he hits the board (2p+), he just rapes people with offensive overbets. Once in a great while, he disguises a bluff exactly the same way.

These people pay him off, and make ultra bad calls vs him, because they hate him so much. They know he plays AA and KK or AK, maybe smaller PPS (setmining only). They still just airmail this old dude stacks of chips.

One time, Mo won like a $10 pot. Someone grabbed a rack, and handed it to Mo. "Here you go Mo, now GTF outta here!"

Mo says something like "**** you!"

I purposely hit & run, after busting someone out, for £150+ in two hands, on a NL50 table. I was at about £215.75 up, at the time Why did I leave? It was now two-handed, as the table cleared out but one other player. Someone else decided to overstake their buy-in to £100 on a £50-max table, and the dealer let it go. Not cool, Ms. Dealer. I called for the floor manager, and told him if the player doesn't pocket £50 from his stack, he's losing the remaining players from the table, and the will have to shut down the table.

Well, the table did shut down, and the overstake player tried to get me on a £1 / £1 £300-max. After six straight hours, I just cashed out and left.

It is sometimes a little upsetting when someone wins a big pot and then leaves the table immediately. Especially if the player had recently showed up. I see people do it all the time though and it is usually the more fishy players that mostly lose that tend to do it the most. They are happy to walk away with a few extra chips than the usual. Sometimes though, they stay at the table only until they lose the big stack back and then immediately leave. Its still upsetting anytime the fish leaves because winning gets harder.

Depends on how big the pot was, and if u sucked out or not, I definetly wouldn't stay if I got it in bad , sucked out and walked away with a big pot, lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place, and knowing ur staying at he table would increase the straddling and people raising you up in the future. But depends on the players at the table and who's long I've been there. If I just got there and tripled up right away. I. Would stay I wanna play for a few hours minimum

The term for this behavior is "ratholing" and is not allowed at most decent card rooms.

well remember Kenny Rogers song The Gambler. " you need to know when to walk away" but i guess it refers to loosing much money but it could apply to a big win too.
I will do it no regrets! :D

You need to know when to walk away and when to RUN.

You can still stick around for another orbit after you have made the decision to leave.

I've been fortunate to win hands with good wells in casinos and I have retired 5 or 6 hands afterwards. I dont see a problem there.

Although when I play with friends try not to retire or take a very passive attitude when I'm winning, and I dont like at all when a couple of friends act in an "overly conservative" after bet his potes.

It all depends if you play with friends or strangers. IMO.

1. it's bad etiquette
2. but your main objective isn't to make friends, it's to get money
3. Depending on whose at the table, you might get stabbed in the parking lot
4. it's perfectly legal

Nothing wrong at all. It is poker. gambling is available 24/7, nothing rude, if anything it would be a compliment.

No rules leaving, after stacking big. You're free to leave the table, whenever you want. Cash poker is about harnessing luck and skill, to make money. It's nothing personal.

Honestly it does seem scummy at the time but you have to respect the decision of someone not pushing his luck against a better play take the respect and if someone leaves after a big pot just pay them homage and hope they come back soon. To be spiteful will only make them want to come more fish want to have more fun if you can create an environment where everyone is having fun people will play looser and are more likely to spend more money

Uh, respect is just not going to happen if you pull that. More than anything you will get a target on your back.
