There are many differences between the live game and online, so the skills are not identical.

1/2 is the lowest level of live poker. Even though there is a lot more money on the table, generally the skill level is comparable to the lowest level online games.

Lowest stakes.

So you would say 1/2 live is equivalent to play you would see at 2c 4c online

So $.50 / $1.00 is your game?
If you are successful there, you are a better player than most $1/$2 live players.

However, live is a different game. For example, I am a profitable $2/$5 live rec player, but a modest winner on ignition and a loser on ACR, both at the micros.

I just did some Googling. I think this article is pretty good:
https://www.pokernews.com/strategy/what-is-the-biggest-difference-between-live-and-online-poker-25556.htm

Note also that your hourly win rate playing one $1/$2 table may be significantly lower than multi-tabling $0.50 / $1.00.

This is again just random shit because I don’t play live, however this is something I used to wonder a lot. So solely following internet and hand analysis the sharks at live tables start around 25NL, all the way up to 100NL. Fish are at 2NL level, randoms ?5NL to 10NL?

You can’t compare directly though, because the skill set live is way different than online. Beanfacekilla for example can restrict villain’s range by just looking how people put the money to the pot or how they say things that is something online player never can do.

It's also difficult to compare because some sites are softer than others, and the $1/$2 at 2am Saturday is different from the game at 2pm on Tuesday. But, very, very generally, yes.

Of course, there are a lot of differences between live poker and online poker

Of course, there are a lot of differences between live poker and online poker. First of all, this is the psychology of the game. When you play live, then you feel the opponent completely, in online poker this possibility is gone. Well, it depends on what site you play online poker. As it was written above, different sites have different poker.

I've found the differences between online and offline is this. At casino tables and offline events at any 1/2 most of your action is slow most people fold at a $4 raise. You can make money at 1/2 tables it just gets ruthless because it's a lot of time people using money they cant afford to lose. Online I've felt that more people buy in with less but play more hands , so theres always some sort of action. However when it comes to 2/5 tables and 5/10 it kind of evens out. You're usually in hands with 1 or 2 other people and it's a variety of ranges so you always have to study the raise quality as opposed to 1/2 online where they are jamming every time with aces or kings.

If you are playing online you are matched up against others who care enough about poker to play online!
When in a casino, you get drunks, weekend warriors, gamblers, craps players, etc...
Not hard to figure out why online is harder.
Better players!

If I can find a trustworthy online poker room I'd prefer online. Quicker, don't have to put up with peoples BS, and you wont have to deal with live poker players and all their "angle shots"
