Hey,

This happened to me the other day.

I was getting a lot quality hole cards. I raised preflop as long as I was in the right position with the right cards. And then hitting nothing on the flop. Always put in my continuation bet, I bought the pot a few times with bluffs.

But i got caught out a good few times as you would imagine, and gave up on a lot of hands too. Then people stopped believing I had hands after a while and started thinking I was an agro fish id say this made it hard to bluff from then on.

Would ye recommend limping into pots because I'm not hitting to mix it up or stop continuation betting because it was eating into my stack. A bit of advise please.

Why do you ask if you know the answer?

Don't cb air if nobody believes you, that is wasting money. Just bet for value, when they believe you have nothing you profit a lot by value betting. Then again if you had premium hand cb with two quality over cards is never wasted.on dry flop.

This is a table image situation. Here are a few recommendations when you find yourself in this spot.

  • Continue to raise pre-flop.
  • C-bet less frequently.
  • Delay C-bet more often (bet the turn when it checks through).
  • Value bet larger on the flops you do hit.

Don't completely stop c-betting. If your opponents are calling and floating your c-bets, try and do it with more value (turns that improve your hand). You will be able to continue on a lot of turns and catch them calling down light. If they are raising your c-bets, c-bet when you have few turns that will improve your hand. You'll be checking those hands where you could improve, which means you'll see the turns and maybe improve. You'll be bet/folding the hands that are worthless.

Limping into pots is giving away free flops.

Always put in my continuation bet

I think the problem is the word "always". If it's not working, mix it up.

If you've observed someone won't fold to you, perhaps consider not always cbetting them?

Bet only if you have a good hand. You can take more if they don't believe that you have value.

Good cash games play doesn't depend on hitting the flop. The money comes from players who play too many hands putting money into pots with weak holdings. Don't be one of those players. If you are going to limp it's part of a strategy not just to see a cheap flop. If you are running hot preflop just keep open raising most players don't adjust well.
