Flops seen, or VP$IP?

My VP$IP is usually around 25%. If you're just starting out, I suggest you should aim for more like 20%.

Whats the VP thing again?

mmmmmmm i thought something was wrong lol.

Yeah i just tried it for my first few times, had good results, but when i clicked stats on the pokerstars options, it said flops seen: 60% lol.

Im guessing my good run wouldnt have lasted much longer.

i think its mainly when im in blinds, i always complete the sb and if the bb is only raised once i often call too. Gotta work on it.

Voluntary $ Put Into Pot (i.e. if you check your unraised big blind, that counts as a hand played but not towards V$PIP)

Ah ok thanks.

Other question:

How dyou play medium to low pocket pairs with a lot of limpers?

Is it better to raise or see a flop cheap?

That's something that I always wondered about in limit poker, when you say you complete the BB if it only has been raised once. I find myself doing that alot also, particularly if the pot is multiway, for the reason that it seems worth to put that extra bet in when compared to pot size.

If you're playing .50/1$ limit, 1st player in makes it 2 bets and 2 players call, when it comes to you pot is $3.75 already. It always seems worth it to me to put in the extra .50c even if my hand is, for example, Q6o, because I tend to look at it as I'm getting more than 7 to 1 on my money.

Of course the problem with this play is that it may cost me alot after the flop if I'm not careful.

I think the way this gets fixed is when you are playing higher limits. If the game were, say, $20/$40, folding would probably get easier.

There can't really be "a lot" of limpers in 6-max. But to answer your question: I don't fold them, but I'm probably 50/50 in between raising and calling. It depends a little on who else is involved in this hand and how likely I think raising is to knock out the big blind.

My gut feeling is that raising and calling has the same value.

The problem with this is that you're playing a hand out of position where very few flops are going to look "good" to you. Getting 7:1, you can play a lot of hands, but only if you actually take down the pot when you have the best hand. Very often, you will end up folding what would ultimately have been the best hand.

If you want some kind of rule of thumb, play hands where you can think of "good flops" that also seem likely to come often enough to warrant playing them for the pot odds you're given. If that makes sense.

JTs, for instance - no problem. A-9 - also good. Flopping an ace will often be enough to win. Any pocket pair is obvious. Q7o? what are you hoping for? QQ7?

Cheers,
FP
