As the title says, I have a question about limited vs non limited games. I see limited cash games aren't very popular, specially online.

Though I prefer this type of gamest because it avoids bingo plays, ridiculous all in, etc. Thus you don't lose too much money with a bad river card.

The game is more or less the same.

Non limited games are more popular, bluffing becomes more important. And maybe it can be more profitable, but it can increase the losses as well.

What are your opinion on this?

I like limit poker, but there are very few limit holdem tables and they get even smaller.

I have tried to play limit HE. I didn't like it. I thought it was kind of boring. Since there is a limit on your raises, you don't have to fear getting re-raised as much, since it won't make a huge difference compared to NLHE. So you see a lot of raise, call, call, re-raise, call, call actions on every street all the time.

Sure, your loss will be small overall, but your profit will be as well.

I only play no limit. People will chase the river more in limit.

I love unlimited. There is an opportunity to throw in the allin at any moment. Make a big raise and this will prevent the opponent from seeing the next cards on the table and thereby protecting his card. This is very important.

It is true, NLHM earnes more money but the risk of losing is also higher. However, I don't think I am patient enough to w8 for long to build a profit in LHM since it is possible (if u play solid) to make that profit faster in NLHM.
I guess this is sort of a risk vs reward situation :)

I prefer no limit, but I also like limit cash games. You can acctually make a lot of money in limit for the simple fact that people get more sticky with losing hands.

The thing with limit is the bluff aspect is much much less, you need to be patient and wait until you connect strong with the flop.

I like how people that never even played limit are saying how bad it is and to take their word for it lol wtf

I'm on the fence when it comes to no limit and limit holdem games, I enjoy playing them both equally. Depending on the day and how I feel like playing decides which game I am going to play that afternoon.

No limit games have a higher variance so I mostly play those games when I'm able to focus and really want to get into the game. Limit on the other hand has much less variance, I enjoy playing there when I want to relax and not have to focus as much while wanting to just play some cards.

I say no limit..Here is why,,

( I know all about the bingo players, I really don't bluff very often at all. I play tight)

your going to fold more hands than you will ever play, and will fold most hands you do play. when playing Limit, your going to whittle your stack down and lose way more games
than you would ever win. with no limit you get a chance to win back blind money and folded hand bets lost.

If playing a no limit tourney, make sure you know where the button is, and what cards you should be playing for your position. also a way to avoid the bingo players a bit is fold
fold fold fold, until you have a very strong hand, or until other players knock them out. people who play a lot of bingo poker really don't last long against tight seasoned players.

I hope this helps you out. Happy bank rolling Peace"

As I bluff a lot, fixed poker means big losses for me. Therefore, I play exclusively without restrictions.

Most players who play online look for that "adrenaline" and excitement. Thus no limit poker is what better suits them. No doubt limit poker is way cooler that does avoid frequent all ins and annoying bingos but it becomes pretty boring for players who want to play tight and also who are looking to bluff more occasionally. That's the reason why limit poker is somewhat less popular in the online world in spite of being way better...

I’m quite sure it was Harrington who said that Limit play is great tool for total noobs, because they see the river much more often than on No limit and thus gain understanding cheaply what hands are winning on the river.

Also calculating outs and pot odds is more relaxed.

Well, thanks everybody for your answers.

I guess limited is good when you don't have a much big bankroll to risk. And if we all play poker, we all should manage our risks, apply what we learned about risk management.

Cheers

Not limited. And how much I know limit poker has already been calculated completely.

I like limit poker but not so much limit Holdem. If I play limit holdem its usually as part of HORSE but I don't think I agree with your comment of avoiding bingo players, I think limit encourages bingo plays rather than discouraging it because kind of like you mentioned it avoids larger losses by chasing hands.

I hate limit games, at the low stakes anyway. Way, way too much chasing - it costs less to chase, so people do it even more than they do in NLHE. PLUS, when you do actually get a good hand, you can't force the chasers to pay or fold, so they keep chasing and your odds of getting paid go way down.

I played limit cash at the beginning of my online game let's say career , but I don't think the limit edition stops donks playing any two cards , quite the opposite I would say . As for the money to win , I don't know , I couldn't understant the basic rules maybe of limit play or else I can't understand the big losses at micro stakes I used to have .

I have heard limit holdem is better for the new players , for me it wasn't ....
