When i first started playing poker it was pretty much only limit availiable in the casino. and as i remember it i was pretty decent, made a decent profit...

question is, does anyone know of any good poker sites, or poker books, dealing exclusively with limit holdem.. im finding that its now one of my worst games, and i truely have no idea of how to play it. im not sure of how im playing, i know that i dont raise enough or bet enough, so theres one thing, but also, i find that i have trouble reading play and hands, as most will generally call a lot lighter..

if anyone can help that would be great.. there may be a thread in CC somewhere that i could read?

Small Stakes Hold Em by Ed Miller, great book with tips for dealing with loose and fishy tables. Play a session and send it my way and I'll have a looksie.

Questions:

Are you playing ring games or tourneys?
What stakes are you playing?
Is your query regarding improving your live play, your online play, or both?

Now, on to some suggestions. Take notes of what hands or situations are messing up your game.

Limit poker is my cash cow live. The Ed Miller book is great and here are some other books that have helped me a lot:

Winning Low Limit Holdem by Lee Jones turned my game around when I was starting to feel like you are now and I've made a profit ever since.

Jennifer Harmon's chapter on Limit Holdem in Doyle Brunson's Super System 2 is excellent. Jennifer, btw, is considered to be one of the best limit players in the world.

52 Tips for Holdem Poker by Barry Shulman. Straightforward and to the point.

Barry Tannenbaum's Advanced Limit Hold'em Strategy, subtitled Techniques for Beating Tough Games is unsurpassed. Barry also writes a monthly column for CardPlayer magazine which I think you can catch online. I have a subscription and always read his insightful articles.

Hope this helps and good luck! :)

Agree, this is excellent^^.

Not familiar with the Ed Miller book but have added it to my list as a must read.

Johnny Chan's Million Dollar Dollar Hold'em Limit Cash Games is pretty decent.

The Sklansky/Miller book "Small Stakes Hold Em" was a huge help to my LHE game.

I also suggest that any player read "The Theory of Poker" by Sklansky somewhere along the line. I re-read it every once in awhile just to strengthen my understanding of the fundamentals plain and simple. Strong fundamentals are essential to LHE, even more so than for NLHE IMO.

i play mostly 8game, i dont play specifically limit, but i will obviously now dedicate a few thousand hands to limit holdem.. time to improoving and i will be playing perhaps the $2/$4 tables, in 8 game i generally play 2/4 or 4/8 wherever the best tables are... im mostly referring to ring games online.. i dont ever play limit in live games anymore..

Thats the thing, im not sure anymore where im going wrong, so im hoping these books you mention below will be a benefit to me. and its hard also, when you play a set of 6 hands of limit at a time.. definately need to play a lot more hands at it, and read up, and then review my sessions and monitor progress
