Has everyone noticed that Limit Hold Em has dried out like fish out of water
I hardly see a table in this game at a smaller casinos
Not that I miss then but it was a good starter game when learning hold em.

I would agree with you ... I actually prefer it, it fits my bankroll better  too many of the NL guys have bad cases of all-in-all the time-itis

I also liked this kind of poker, but I had to accept the fact that he was dying.

This is definitely not the case in Live. Your biggest games in live poker rooms is Limit hold em and Limit mixed games.

At my local poker room Derby Lane Limit is non existent anymore only at night will they open up one or two tables maybe most of the games are No Limit Holdem or PLO or PLO8
they throw all level of No Limit Holdem Up to $50/ $100 PLO up $25/$50 and PLO8 up $25/$50 . I like PLO8 $10/$20 and No Limit Holdem $10/$20 and I'll play some tourneys both PLO8 and No Limit Holdem I sometimes play some Stud 8B but don't know it that well so I play it at a $3/$6 level and do pretty well at it just have to remember the rules if you don't have a decent starter after 4 cards get out. and for low if your first four aren't to the low get out. I once sat a a stud 8b game with $100 buyin and left with $1200 from a $3/$6 game of limit play. kept hit lows and sets for nice pots . Now they don't have a lot of Stud 8B there anymore very rearly now. I guess games come and go in popularity in the poker world and that's just how it goes.

PLO is pretty much the only relevant pot limit game at this point. PLH is just dead.

Move to Washington state. 75% of hold 'em is white chip. Can't find a $10-20, 1 room offers $20-40 consistently. $8-16 is usually available, but only if the pre-requisite $4-8 games are going healthy (2+ tables with waitlist). Yes, there are a couple soft $1-3 NL games, but both are in different counties from myself. So its drive 35+ miles or peddle the nuts with the same old same old.

Limit is great at 5-10 or 10-20 your typical 3/6 is a skill game but more for entertainment so many players to a pot and small wins. My best ever was crushing the game +500 typical win rate 60 same as loss if you break even your good at 3/6.

Dying yes I have noticed this at my local casino just reg's and nits.

Better to play Omaha than limit holdem, seriously. It's more interesting than a hold limit. That's my opinion;)

Limit hold em is dying even though it is a good game. You will still find it at pokerstars though

They still offer Limit games are my casino but typically only a total of 2 tables are Limit vs another 20 for No-Limit.

I first learned playing home limit games, mainly stud, (something I never see live in the casino). With the popularization of No Limit on tv I think most of us converted and newer players may not have ever played cash limit game and instead learned poker as a no limit tournament style.

if i had a lot of money...which do I not...I prefer no limit...with a limited bankroll, limit hold em is the way to go.I remember when they had 2/4 at the local cardroom. Now the smallest is 4/8

I liked limit when I started but got tired of losing to straights and flushes. Couldn't bet them off the hands.

I think people love no limit because they love the idea of hitting a big hand and getting somebody's entire stack. There is more of a thrill with that. Also, once you play no limit, it's tough to go back to limit. You can't make appropriate bet sizes when you have something like an over pair. So, anybody on straight or flush draws just call you all the way down to the river. Heck, it's hard enough getting fish to fold their draws in no limit poker !

I never really appreciate the holdem limit. It does not surprise me to see that it has been left behind by poker players over the years.

I believe limit poker has declined due to the next generation of poker players being brought up on televised poker! The no limit was the popular game to show. Now many have never even developed skills for any other game. Not to mention the no limit denotes it's own status. I can remember players like Doyal would sit in whatever had an open seat and keep moving until he found the softest game no matter what it was.
The fact is is if this is the only game youve developed then your leaving a lot of potential money on the table. The loss of limit games will slowly start to shrink the poker population. For years this industry struggled to get into the mainstream, to attracts all walks by offering on the square low limit poker. It was finally out of the back rooms and you could learn for a $20 buy-in. Without an influx of new players the industry will suffer and if an inexpensive non good ole boys game is not offered, new players will feel too intimidated to sit in. Just saying, 86ing the limit game, in my opinion, will send poker back to few and far apart games. Support your limit games as they are tomorrow's no limit fish!!
I was in a $4-$8 limit game 0n the strip around the year 2000. This was smack in the middle of the boom but most new players had only seen no limit games on TV. It was late and the games had gone down to just our one die hard game. Young guy sits in with all the TV garb, hoodie, sun glasses, ear plugs...anyway the game was a social type as most of us worked in the industry. However the new guy wasn't talking, moving or even watching it seemed (and apparently he wasn't). An hour had gone by and this guy had not played a hand. Finally he looks out from under his hoodie, pulls his earphones out of his ears, stands up and pushes all his chips forward and states proudly, "ALL IN". We had no mercy, a few of us fell out of our chairs laughing so hard. The rest just stared at him as the dealer exsplained that it was a limit game and had been all night. He never thought it was strange that none of us thought any of our hands were worth more than $8? I admit I was one of the ones with tears in my eyes from laughter so I don't know what even really went on much past that he was just gone when I finally composed myself. Those same kind of guys however are the :call2:pajority age in poker now. Guys, please, check out the work that was put in before you to build poker to the popularity it is now. You're now the ambassadors, take care of the ole timers legacy as it is you that benefitted most, pay it forward. Poker always needs new blood!!!

I’m not playing any NL cash games any more. I prefer the limit style My game of choice is PLO. As it’s the only game with “limit” betting at my local casino.
I do like NL only for tournament play. I think the unpredictability of push/shove betting is really more meaningful for MTT play.

My local casino doesn't even offer it, never has. I think there was more demand for this game in the 80's. Anyway, you can still play live but you have to go to Vegas.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. It's a thing that happened also in my city. It is indeed a smaller provincial town where I live, but when I first started playing poker about 7 years ago, there were two such poker clubs in town where I played cash especially Limit Holdem at small stakes, because I didn't want and I couldn't afford to lose much at that time. Today both clubs no longer exist, they were closed because of the high taxes that the organizers were obliged to ask the players to join the club and also because of the taxes levied by the government. :icon_shak
