Limit Bankroll Question

I'm bored with nothing to do and there's a casino that has an hours promotion where the top hour player receives $1,000 (which is what I'd be shooting for, although other hour earners receive cash as well)

They have a 2/4 limit game there that I should be able to get enough hours in to win it (I'm thinking 70-80)

So my question is, would a $650 roll be enough to give this a shot?

The $650 is a little more than half the recommended bankroll for the game so I'm thinking I should be ok?

Appreciate it.

Bankroll should be 10 times your maximum bet.

I'm undecided because the casino is cross country so I'd really appreciate serious replies. Thank you

So 70-80 hours is a lot of time to spend during the week at the table. If your bored with and truly have nothing to do then set up shop and get to work. $650 should suffice. I would buy in for $100 a day. I would play pretty tight if shooting for the 1k prize. I could easily sit at a 2/4 table with $100 for 12-16 hours a day. You should see between 2000-3000 hands in a week. Make sure you take snacks, drinks and entertainment. Toothbrush and ibuprofen. Check the promotion again. 1k/week seems a little steep.

Sounds like a pretty big shot for that size of bankroll.

I thought so at first but after running the numbers my risk of ruin should be less than 15%.

Update?

This is a late post, but I hope you didn't do it. Assuming you get to play 25 hands per hour and rake is $5 (which is pretty low rake), that would be $125 in rake that the house is taking. Divide that by the 9 players, and each player is paying $13.88/hour in rake. If you are able to win 2 Big Bets per hour (which is already crushing it), you would only be winning $8/hr. That doesn't include $1 tip for every pot you scoop. $8-$13.88 = -$5.88/hr in expected gain. Multiply that by 70 hours minimum, which is your weekly goal, and that comes out to the weekly net of -$420. Assuming you win the competition $1,000-$420 = $580 in profit, but winning the most hours logged per week isn't guaranteed.

Curious for an update though if you attempted this.
