Hi everyone,

Been playing around 150k hands since start of june, and it all went pretty good until yesterday. Finally reached a bankroll of $500 and gave 10nl a go.

Got completely butchered (probably cause of tilt & for playing 6 hours straight) and lost around $90.

And now when I hit the 2nl/5nl tables (which I've been beating for a decent clip over 200k hands) nothing seems right. I make idiotic river calls, total spazz plays etc.

I don't really know what's going on - but I assume my game has some major leaks.

So thinking of rebuilding pretty much the fundamentals of the poker theory I know, and start with 6-max. Haven't really been playing much 6-max, but it seems like most people who are successful tend to prefer it over FR.

So, feed me your knowledge! Where do I start? Purchased a deucescracked membership aswell, so if there are any good videos to start with please feed me!

Inb4 150k heater comments, I give to you lifetime graph 2nl/5nl zoom

Giraffe for those who care

Cheers!

You certainly have the ability, or at least the potential. Playing tilted is a pretty big leak though. If you already know you're making idiotic river calls etc then I'm not sure there's anything we need to say.

A lot of poker players have a disconnect of sorts between how they think about the game away from the tables and how they approach the game in the heat of the moment. They can go back through their play and easily pick out all kinds of mistakes after the fact. Synching the thought process used in both scenarios, or at least attempting to, is key here, and it pretty much comes down to building a method of analytically approaching each hand at the table imo and reinforcing that through repetition.

And yea 6max is awesome. It's a little tougher (comparing equivalent stakes) as you kinda have to know what you're doing and you can't nit it up quite as effectively, but obv the more hands you can play the more you can impose your advantage in skill - if any.

The thinking depth of each level are quite different... Just play at the level you feel most comfortable.

When I read this, it was like an epiphany - it's so true. I often read other players' hands (aswell as mine) and I can find all these spots where Hero makes a losing play. And when I sit at the table, I completely forget to see the hand from an analytical perspective. I go into button-pressing mode.

Thanks for the really thoughtful answer. I'm going to give 6max a go, and hopefully it won't be too much of a hustle to get things going there. :)

Yeah np. The exact thought process varies slightly from player to player. Personally (and this is what I recommend to others) I always start by asking myself my opponent's range. I follow up by asking myself what my perceived range is, and I do this on a street by street basis.

Best of luck with your 6max endeavours. There are quite a number of 6max players around here so by all means post some hands if you have any specific questions or just want a line check.

I want my redline to look like yours... Any advice?

I mainly just wanted to say your graph looks good; I don't have any great advice for you other than refocus and get back on your game. Getting used to a new limit after 150k hands at a different one is gonna take some time. You will probably need to make some adjustments, but.. can't really say how or how hard it will be to figure out.

150k hands and not at NL25 yet...

I am sorry, but right off I think you should be playing many less tables/less hands per hr. and then paying closer attention to hand reading, etc.

That being said, i've tilted off like that and usually it is a combination of bad play/bad luck. Just take some time off imho....
