i raised 3 times the big blind got called.

KK10 comes out and first to act raises 1/2 the pot... do you call? he has full buyin at 2dollars on a 1c 2c... 2 ppl to act after you?

I know this is what i read up about being way ahead or way behind.. so i'm still learning how to use this knowledge

I guess if 3 ppl were in for 1/2 the pot and i'm last to act i'm calling.

The first to act cannot "raise", they bet.

Any reads?

To be honest, I think you shouldve bet more preflop and I am sure you are beat here. Im 100% positive that someone with a Kx wouldve called you because thats what I wouldve done. Just too small of a raise is what I think you did wrong here.

depends on the player....definitely need to watch everyone closely so u have an idea how many hands they play, how often they make those kinda moves, if they bluff, so many variables every situation is different, but with no other info im probably going for it.

yes but if i call and behind ive ruined a good session

and with such a marginal call or raise... i'll feel dirty with myself and felt i let myself down cause its not the best poker

Are you playing a 5 hand session? How does one call swing your whole session?

I flat flop based on stats, maybe flat turn.

Some sessions where your not getting your made hands.. and your only purely winning off those semi bluffs... Not up by much at 2nl and a couple mistakes like this would make a good session into a bad one.

I played 1000 hands yesterday but i had two hands one which was KK vs AA and the other would've been near the WA/WB ... still was up 5 dollars but it could've been 10 dollars ... A few mistakes really cost you overtime.

Here's the basic consideration in my mind: Do you think he would have called you with a Kx type hand? That is the typical problem if you have a player with a wide range of hands, they may be more likely to call reasonable pre-flop raises with paint and rag cards, hoping to hit something, doubly so for many players if the paint and rag are suited.

Now, maybe look at the numbers as well: 1/2 pot raise I would gather is maybe 4bb or so (you put 3, he put 3 as the bb, and the small folded). That isn't a really big bet really, considering what you put in if you call the odd there are only really 1 in 4 or worse, so there are plenty of hands that he could have and call with odds like that.

Again, it depends on the player. This guy could be sitting with QJ and be more than willing on the flop to try to bet you out. He has 8 outs to make a straight, and another 6 outs to improve his hand (by pairing up) in that case, which may be powerful enough to merit the bet.

Perhaps it's my inner donk, but I would have called to see one more card in this case. If a Q comes, you have hit a house and you are pretty much golden against every hand he might have except KK. If the next street is a brick, then you can fold without feeling so bad about it.

I often do see ppl betting heavy when they have the 10 when they play live 1/3 at the casino... i guess in this scenerio perhaps i could check raise the guy and put him off his 10... and take the pot right there.

Definetly calling and hoping he has a king if a queen does drop.... I guess i should call one more street as long as the opponent has 100bb and ofc myself to get the implied odds required to make this play...
And if not i settle for a small pot or shut down. thanks guys for your feedback.

If we're HU I agree but he's leading into 3 players. I fold.

Worse logic ever! You're raising to put him off a hand that you beat? Think about that. You're only getting action when you have the worst hand. Doesn't sound like a good bet to me.

Yes but isn't there a part of poker where you take your wins when you can??? extending the hand here could easily lead you to a loss? ...
And how much value are we going to get at later streets??? he'll most likely put us on a k or if we raised preflop at least JJ+, so i think we are giving extra cards out for nothing?

I know i need to learn how to get better value out of these hands though... through these marginal hands is where i'm working at atm it's where i'm losing a lot and winning a little.

Yes but you don't want people laying down a weaker hand...
