Keeping big stack in front of you in cash games

I have done this numerous times only to run into a huge cooler I have won a tourney started playing cash got up to around 4-5 times my buy in eg £500-600 kept it at the table and ran into a huge cooler and been felted do you guys take it off and come back with like 100bb?

First, I don't think that your casino allows you to do so. Normally resitting with less money is not allowed.

I would suggest to set yourself a limit, where you will cash out.

That can be 300bbs or any time amount, in which these things don't happen for you.

its best to leave the table when you have a big stack. I dont know what the rules are in a casino but most of the time you will get a bit looser which will end up costing you money

Goes both ways for me. My casino has a 2 hour delay for leaving and coming back. Online has 30 min. On Aggro table that I feel I have the edge over massive stacks, I want as much money as possible on the table to get max value for when I get into big hands. However most times the guys that have the larger stacks are solid players, and in this case I will leave and go get something to eat or log out for a little then buy back in for 100bb after the 2 hrs live or 30 min online is over.

I'm talking about online here so maybe I should wait the 30min and come back later with the 100bb. The last cooler that springs to mind was flopping a nut flush with AK suited flop comes 10 6 4 all diamonds. Villain leads out for £15 I flat. turn comes a offsuit 7 he bets again for £35 I raise to £85 he shoves for his remaining £380 I obviously call and he turns over pocket tens and rivers a 4 there obviously nothing I could do in this situation with the effective nuts but if I only had £100 at the table it wouldn't of been so painful

I hear ya..this can go two ways though. You win this hand 77.1% of the time. I personally would rather get the max vaue 77.1% of the time and lose my whole stack 22.7 % of the time... but I understand what you are saying. If you feel like it's painful too lose make sure you are following strict bankroll management. It's never fun too lose, but if your properly rolled it won't feel so bad. All we can do is make the best decisions every street.

My wife when she plays cash tables at casino. She sets to the side of her main stack what she wants to keep. Money is still in play and is still on the table she just sets it slightly apart from the rest. Other players have noticed her doing this before its never been an issue. That's how she does her BR management on that table.

Me however, I do it differently. I color up after I get ahead and then I have a rack that plays on the table just 1 rack. That I put the colored up chips in. Last time 6 hours of play profited me $2500 at the table I had bought in with $100. I was playing $1/$3 NL. So I color up when im up over $200 then I leave like $50-$100 in $5s and $1s. This works for me but having a plan on what you want to leave with or not lose helps as well. Also I just play recreationally not as a pro or anything like that.

I try to bail when I out chip the max buy in by 3X. I've lost more money then I like to admit to coolers.

If you can't fold a set or a massive non nutted hand to serious heat on all three streets. Absolutely, you don't want to be playing 500bbs deep. Switch tables and take money down. Play safe. It sucks when that stuff happens, you end up losing all your winnings and then--upset--go on tilt and go on a signficant tilted downswing. Happened to me allot my initial year playing poker.

you can cash out grab a bite to eat and get back on the waiting list. its what I do any way. I need that time away to just regroup and get ready for 6 to 12 hours of play again.

That is absolute true - in cash game, you need to set up the limit for wins, as for loses, also.

I hear ya. Flopping a nut flush feels like the nuts although obviously it can be beat. I guess I've done this too going on tilt after such an occurrence.

good advice me too mate. Ive got over 400bb in pre with aces before to get sucked out on villian had KK. The fact is I wasn't or am not bankrolled to play this way but getting it in with aces pre is way too tempting and don't think I could ever fold unless I was at a big FT with 3-4 all ins ahead of me I would be thinking of the ICM involved but still think I'd struggle to fold

I understand where people are coming from about getting coolered...... and you said it in your reply "The fact is I wasn't or am not bankrolled to play this way" but you want 400bb on the table when you get it in as a 81% favorite..... or at least I do.. I'll take the 18.5% chance of losing my stack..
