Hi! I got myself into sticky situation in a live cash game and wanted to hear your opinion on it.
4-handed game BB is 25p (0.25 GBP) but standard raise is ~6BB.
We are both deep-stacked (~50P) and the Villain is relatively tight.
Im the BB, villain is on the button.
Preflop: Cutoff folds, Villain raises to 2.5 P, SB calls, I look at my hole cards to find :js4: :jc4: , so I re-raise to 7P, Villain re-raises to 10P, SB folds, I call.
Flop: :8s4: :9h4: :10d4:
I check, Villain raises 1/2 of the pot, I call.
Turn: :4h4:
I check, Villain raises 1/2 of the pot, I call.
River: :7s4:
I shove, he calls and shows :ah4: :ad4:
I just could not fold to that small preflop re-raise and that flop was perfect for me. Did play right? I won the pot but kinda sucked out.

You are kind of teetering but I think you're very okay having 10 outs. He was the one who fouled his hand up by only betting half pot and inviting an obvious straight draw. And my god - make a note on this guy - he can't get off a big pocket pair.

Your most questionable was going to the river after his raise- you did not have pot odds for that - but when you're chasing you want to catch something, right?

I agree with Blitz, what was your plan if the river bricked and came a deuce etc? because if he fires on the river your jacks can never really be good against a relatively tight player, ie he's not doing this with AK and doesn't 4 bet A10 pre. If you are deep enough then you can probably get away with check calling twice to hit your straight if you think you are going to get paid.

i don't get this. You won, but you're wondering if you won good enough?

He was asking if he played the hand properly.
If you don't question your plays from time to time you will not learn anything.

To become a good poker player you must assess your play apart from your results. Anyone can get lucky.

With 10 probable outs, and an overpair to the board, I would lean towards a big check raise all in or open shoving on the flop. It is a gambling play, but I would expect it to be an excellent spot given the pre flop action and the money behind. I would expect that to be the most +ev option.
