Ok just want to know if you think i made the right descion.
Recently in a 2.20 10 person sng, with the blinds 100/200 i get JJ on the button short stacked with 5 people left.top 3 get paid.
I decide to push with it and get two callers,A/9 and A/10.
Needless to say the ace hits and i am gone.
But do you think i played the short stack in late pos right.

Well there is only 3 starting hands better than jj, waiting on anything better while you are short stacked and your going to be blinded out.
So yes you made the right decision.

I personally don't like JJ to many times I lose with it, but when your short stacked you have to try something. You take the chance and hope for the best lol gl next time.

That's clearly the right move. You can't possibly sit and wait for a better hand than JJ. Keep in mind, JJ is a better all in hand than AK, AQ, etc. The fact is, they hit a 2-outter on you and you got unlucky. I don't really get why whoever the 2nd caller was made the call. I don't really think they could believe their A9/A10 had 2 people beat, but I guess that's online poker for you. To answer your original question though, you made the right play.

Yes, you did the right thing. You don't have a lot of wiggle room left when you're the short stack. You're going to have to make a move at some point.

I would have been pretty happy to see two players both with an ace turn over their cards. Unfortunately you took the hit.

Had to like your chances when you saw both opponents holding single A & undercard. Good play, unlucky outcome. Good play regardless of what opponents showed down.

Similar thing recently happened to me. I had two callers, one mucked on the turn and the other had K9o. K came on the river and I was out. It was late in the tourney and I was short stacked. I would do it again.

You made the right move.

It really depends on the play at the table. If the people in the hand have been raising regularly with Q's K's and A's and you were the one that pushed the action, you are probably safe. A 1/2 pot bet will probably make them fold.

If there was a raise before your action be careful you know there is a good chance they may have hit one of the over cards. If you are first to act throw out a feeler bet.

I would probably act the same way in a similar situation . JJ are difficult to play. For the most i agree with rakbarak
At least you didn't lost from a J3 like i did!!! three threes!

I have to agree with most that because of your short stack you could not afford to wait for a better hand. . .you basically would have had to wait so long to get a better hand than you J's that you would have been eaten up by the blinds.

Right position. ANd JJ is good hand to push with. 9 out of ten times ANy Ace is going to call short sdtack you just have to hope it holds.

Well, wait!!! Christ... 100/200.. how shortstacked were you? What were the effective stacks? Were they loose (yes)? A SNG has one objective: Make the top three. We're you the shortest stack?

You have equity in this tournament at this point ... and you must consider that with 300 in the pot ... 9 players/10 players at what 1500 starting stack is 13,500 or 15,000, so the average is 2500-3000 with 5 players. If you had 1000-1500... then the push is fine. Anything less than 1000... you're gonna get called.

Not enough information.. this is just an unlucky hand disguised as a strategy post.

i like to play JJ aggresively only in good position and if i have a big stack or very small stack. and Ace always seems to come and you if dont have all your chips in, or get too many callers, JJ is likely not good.

Curious

to know what you consider shortstacked?? If you only had 1000 chips left than yes you made the right move. I didnt catch your position either. I will double check if you wrote thsat because of course that is very important

On the button

Yeah this is definitely the right move. Especially if you had less than 1500 chips. I said 1000 earlier but I lied. I am rwally just trying to make a point that you can hang on to your chips alot longer than most players think and survive to make the money by letting go of certain hands in certain positions and waiting for the right time to get your money in good. Patience!!!!

Were there any limpers or raisers in before you?

How short stacked were you?

What were the other stacks at the table?

No one can give a good opinion without these very important facts.

You got it all-in preflop with two callers and you were in a dominating position. That's all you can ask for.

you could have limped in, they might have had say 10 - 6 off and flopped a straight, that would of upset you more, right? make the play agian the odds are with you, just not this time.

JJ three-way all-in vs. A9s and ATs = 65 % chance to triple up
JJ vs. A9o and ATo = 73% chance to double up.

Don't ever think you can pass up edges like that in poker, they don't come very often.

I would have done the same but everyone knows that any ace is going to call in that type of situation. My experience has been any ace will call any pocket pair allin. You just have to hope for the best. If I am going to go out it is going to be with high pockets rather than med or lo pockets gl

It was the correct play for sure, but this was low limits on the internet, so they were gonna play ace+bad kicker all day long, you just got unlucky.

If you decide to muck the JJ, what hand do you think you should have waited for? Do you think it would have come before you blinded out?
