CC is in desperate need of dec PLO players, something which i certainly am not. Ive been running like shit for 2 months at 6max NLHE, so lets see what happens after 2 months of PLO. im probs gunna float around 10/25PLO zoom while i get less retarded at it... that is after i donk my way to lolmaha victory or busto today playing 50PLO :p

Would really appreciate some aspiring PLO guys input. lets learn how to not suck together!

In, GL JC. Running like shit in NL for 2 months is going to feel like nothing if you take PLO semi seriously lol. Given you're new to PLO, not sure if starting at 25PL zoom is the best of choices though? Especially given your track record of BR management ;)

I can't give advice as I to am pretty terrible at cash omaha.

Marg obviously is probably the best PLO player on CC, but I've not seen him post for months, not sure if he's even about on here anymore. Pretty sure though he will give some pointers if he sees this thread.

I am not sure that you need to learn another game. You already know your way around No Limit Holdem. What you need to learn is bankroll Management IMO. That s..it with 20-25 BI at 25NL is not BR management because obvious it did not work. What makes you think the same thing won't happen at PLO?

Pretty sure PLO is the future of online poker especially. Learning omaha cash though certainly does do wonders for your NL game too and it's fun of course.

initiate the fun... any input on anything appreciated

villain (flop donker, not RFI guy) is aggro as but havent seen enough of him at showdown to know whether hes a boss or a banana.

my (probably terrible) line of thinking throughout the hand:
FLOP: let barrel happy villain barrel away. (i feel like this is a pretty nutty flop)

TURN: Probs bad OOP? but feel that villain donking half pot and continuing range is a lot of draws that i have dominated.

RIV: couldnt have called quicker obv.

i didnt busto in NLHE, i just have been a rakeback pro over the past few months lol. i have about $650 atm. made $12 in sept and am down $60 for oct so far (80k hands), not inc the ~$300 ive made in FPP rakeback and $170 ive earned in stellars over that period.

^ pretty much this.

I think calling the turn is okay if we think we can get stacks but I'm not so sure, so maybe fold turn.

probably like 10'000 hand combos, just start narrowing from there and you'll be all good

As for the hand, you can assume villain has the nut flush draw plus either some straight draws like us or possibly sets,

Raise the flop imo. There are a bunch of scare cards for the turn that can shut him down if he has str or flush draws, or some two pair/set hand. Get the money in on the flop I think is more profitable.

Good luck JC Grind.

You'll need it. I see that you have had some as well. I have played PLO about as much as I have played NLHE. About 4/5 years on both. I have won more money on PLO but, I have also lost more as well. PLO is probably the better game - more interesting I think - but the variance is double that of NLHE - in fact mathmatically 6 times as much. PLease take this into account and make sure your starting hands are of a good level. (How bad is that english?)

Anyway have a god time and hope to hear you are taking it down good.

:D :D :D

Scratch all this, I thought we flopped a boat. My bad.

Good Luck... I think you will have to work on recognizing the kinds of flops that really are favorable to you. The 1st two hands I definitely would have played differently than you did - the 10 7 JQ hand you got really lucky I hope you weren't counting a 10 high flush draw as something worth betting in PLO but maybe u were since all you had on the flop besides that was a gutshot. Last hand pretty standard - but important because you had draws to the nuts with the best hand. Narrow your own ranges in terms of semi bluffing hands - there is nothing wrong with taking a free card now and then in PLO to keep the pot smaller when you aren't drawing to the nuts. Pot control will help you if you can see tons of hands to showdown you will become better at knowing when to fold hands that now look like winners to you but are really trouble hands. I'm interested to know what your opponent held in the KK J7 hand - that was a nice hand to play preflop but that board wasn't a great board til the river and many times your opponent has the suited ace of diamonds with a made straight - hopefully you won that pot but I would definitely favor folding that turn card.

Seeing as we actually have a PLO thread about now is probably a good time to ask: is micro PLO even beatable?

I'm assuming they changed the rake or something cause I remember a few years back everyone was complaining rake made it too hard to win the monies at micro PLO.

Also, any good articles to read up about PLO basics?

TJ Cloutier wrote a very good book on PLO imo. I think PLo micros can be beat - I prefer to play it live for cash and in tourneys online though.

short answer is 'not without being a RB pro'. the rake is jokes high though i puked when i realised what i was paying. and yes stars did adjust it slightly in the players favour.
as far as articles are concerned 2p2 SSPLO digest is your friend

sickest thing itt. so yeah have to use mates acc/bank acc etc. a real pain in the ass for cashing out but yeah. theyre passing laws in aus soon too whereby everyones internet use is monitored. so a shady individual like me is going to have to learn how to operate some kind of IP rerouter and play via that. zzzzzzz
