Is it wrong to leave the table if you get a quick stack made?

I ask because I'm used to playing sng where there is a beginning, middle and end to the game.
I have just started playing cash games and am doing ok but I leave when I feel like I have added enough to my bank roll. Sometimes this might be in the first 15 minutes and I don't want to lose it all on a bad call or bad beat.
I think that was one of the reasons I got into sng in the first place as money is spent up front and one can play a long time cheaply without watching real cash come and go in a few hands.
Not sure what my BB/100 is but the money is what I am counting and that has gone up.

I'm probably wrong, but I play based on stop-loss [2BI], or if I feel my concentration slipping.
The thought is to stick around if you are winning!

No problem at all. Some would encourage it.

Leave whenever you want. But August is right. How often do you get to play with other folks moola?

I'd stay as long as the table is still profitable e.g. as long as there are still players there being worse than I am.

If you don't have a HUD get yourself one.

Assuming that you have just begun playing cash looking at short time cash balance won't give you an impression about how good / bad you really are.

You could be awesome and the upcoming star or you could be terrible but on a heater.

A HUD will tell you alot more than your cash balance.

it sounds like you respect money too much, you should stay at the table for longer than 15 minutes regardless if its a strong table or not and especially if its a weak one...

Any time you want to leave a table because you don't want to risk losing what you've won, you're "scared money". It's seldom if ever a good idea to play when you are.

In the short term, it's better to leave than to start playing sub-optimally in order to avoid risking your winnings. In the long term however, it's also important to desensitize yourself to this feeling since leaving tables where you're +EV is no way to increase your profitability / win rate.

Yeah dude if you're killing a table then why leave? Dw about losing some dollars that always happens its part of the game. If you have a skill advantage on your table stick around.

Remember, you might be able to lose more than 100bb now, but you can also win more :)

I don't think I'm killing the tables, just getting some lucky double ups or similar.
But if I can make 20BB in 30 hands I'm happy, whether I'm improving or learning anything is another matter

I'd like to think I have a skill advantage but as was said I might just be on a run.
We're talking PLO here and I'm just learning procedures at the moment. To be honest I think I donked a few good pots, yes.

Some people might not like it, but you are free to do whatever you want...

Umm yeah.

You can also hand over your whole BR to anyone you want but it's not profitable.

In my opinion u should stay at the table as long as u are winning and u still feel that there are worse players than u at the table(because most of your money comes from these players :D) .You will make more money if you will pay more attention to table selection .

Sounds like you are allowing the money to sway your decisions. Try to learn to disassociate yourself from the $$$ and you will play much better.

It is OK to leave after a quick win, but losing is part of the game. It IS going to happen. The RISK is what makes poker more than a card game. Embrace it.

There is a guy that plays the same time that I do. He sits down at the table with min buy in and fold every hand until he get AA or KK then all in. If he doubles up he leaves the table and goes to another one. After a while he makes his way back around to my table again.

And probably 20 other tables at same time > 'SSS'

Other folks opinions don't count at all.

When YOU feel like leaving, LEAVE.

Sticking around too long is a BIG MISTAKE.

When a player has just won a big hand, or had a big winning session,
they are "on tilt" just the same as losing a big one, just in a different direction.
Anything that affects you emotionally, affects your play.
It is very hard to stay on your "A" game after a big win.

In fact the best players will often take a day or two off after a big score.

The way I see it, is that if you're new to cash games then that money is going to be disappearing at some stage anyway, whether it be in one massive 300bb stack or over the course of a few 100bb stack. I would really just suggest playing stakes where you have at least 20 buy ins for the level never ever ever ever play with scared money it's how you lose. Play a stake where if you lose a buy in it wont matter at all.

Normally I'd say stay at a table if you double or tripple up because you're probably against a bunch of fish, however because I get the impression that you are rather inexperienced, especially at cash, I recommend that you leave the table when you double up because you are likely to make a large mistake that will cost you 200bb, and the lesson you learn from the loss could just as well be learnt by losing 100bb.

Hope that makes sense. Leaving the table will essentially save you money on the mistakes you are going to make as you learn cash games.

Feel free to dismiss my post as drivel if it doesn't apply to you.

Thanks for all the answers. It matters less at the moment coz it's amazing if I win anything at all now. I almost doubled my BR then watched it disappear in about 2 days.
Not sure if I was getting lucky or have been unlucky. I did watch twice as my 16 outs for flush and straight failed twice to materialise and got knocked out when other players' draws came in.
For now I will leave if double up arrives or my buy-in is lost.
