It's not that difficult, it's a lot different from the game in the tournament, but everything depends ... try and see if you're doing well, why not, only my advice is to enter the blinds that suit your bankroll ...
So if you come to the table where the blinds are 0.05 / 0.10, you should have bankroll 100 times more than big blind, it's some unwritten rule...
Good Luck ;):icon_bigs:rolleyes:

Bank roll management is a great point and really important.

OP if you’re just starting out in cash play within your bankroll, play tight and walk away if you get a bad beat / start losing and feel tilted.

Cash games are dangerous games ,I´m used to say that cash games are only for sharks. If you are a shark have a try ,but if you are not ,stay away from it.

Cash game is not too good to learn poker. First of all you should play freerolls and tournaments with micro limits.

I'm currently preparing to jumping into cash games (again).I would advise you to do the Following things:
- Start out in the micros
- Have a solid BRM (Bankroll management)
- Get a solid theoretical base
Read books f.ex.
Master Micro Stakes Poker by Alton Hardin you can get it for 5$ on youre Kindle/ipad/Phone and its a bargain.
the books by Blackrain 79 (http://www.blackrain79.com/)
(I haven't read it yet but its said to be good)
- Start with "Play Money" that way you will get a feeling for the Software and you can apply some game knowledge this should get you some confidence.
BUT don't get fooled it's nowhere near the real deal.

It isn't too difficult to play them, and it is not really true that you should start with tournaments first. I started with cash games, and am doing just fine with both MTTs and cash games now.
Some advices:
-think about bankroll, don't dive into higher stakes if you are new to the game,
-reading a book is not necessary, but some theory could come in handy, the alternative would be watching YT videos of cash games from some high stakes players,
-while you are playing, pay very close attention at what people are doing and how are they playing, especially if they show cards. You can use that to your advantage multi-way. You will better understand individual players and how to then play against them, also you will quite often be able to see how to play properly and how to NOT play (both live and online, people are making some very good plays and very bad once, so learn from their mistakes, rather then yours)

If you are a beginner stay away from cash games until you learn the fundamentals of poker and have a clear strategy.

In cash games it is very likely to lose a lot of money, all that is in your account. I agree with all who write that this is for experienced players. I have a sad experience. )))

A suggestion is only play cash games once you know poker really well and can get into the money in the tournaments. Cash games will suck the fun out of your poker and you will wonder why you ever started in the first place. Once you have some skill, play micro cash game tables. Learn how people play. first thing that shocked me is the standard pre flop bet is a bout 3 times the big blind.

I would definitely recommend The Grinders Manual- its an incredible book that if you take your time with and apply yourself to will put you way ahead of the competition in the micros all the way up to 50NL.

He has another book out now that's a companion to it called 100 hands that incredible as well

Because you are a beginner you shouldn't play zoom cash game.
You shouldn't play head's up.
And don't switch limits too quickly.
Stay to a limit that you BR allows it.
Make a quick research on who's a regular,who's a fish etc.
Don't involve in too many hands especially OOP.
And when you learn with what kind of opponent are you playing then start to play your game.

But I believe that my best tip is don't switch limits.
Imo every limit has different opponents with different skills and you will struggle as a beginner.

Good luck.

Yes, get some books

+1

Cash games are not that hard.

One possible way to do it: Read good book and same time play play money tables and try to apply everything you learn from the book.

When you think you understand (you don't really need to be right, just have an 'opinion') what and why book says and have some practical idea about how nit - agro - and passive fish play and know how to alter your game (again you don't need to be perfect here) against them on the table try some real games, 2NL.

Use regular (no zoom) 9max tables.

Cash games are actually pretty easy at micro levels.

Position is very important. And don't give villains too much credit. What I mean is that they usually are NOT bluffing. I have made too many mistakes ASSUMING that villain would be an idiot to shove on that board. Well I am the idiot for calling thinking he is bluffing. Usually they aren't unless you have a history with a guy and know that he's a maniac.

Play ABC poker and value bet and you will win. Don't overthink. The other guy isn't thinking on a deep level.

Yes, it's more difficult to play in cash games than on free games because when you play for money and at least once you make a mistake you are all out of luck so you need to have a certain strategy and tactics.

You can play cash games for free chips, gain experience in developing your strategy, and if everything turns out, you can switch to cash.

Should you play cash games as a beginner?

I would recommend buying a Poker book and/or watching some basic training videos before sitting down at a cash game for the first time. There are certainly concepts that need to be understood in order for a beginner to not only enjoy the game but make some money as well.

What? More skill than tournaments? Cash relies on more simple mathematics, while tournament calculations are based on stack sizes. Hand ranges are waaay more complicated due to previous. In cash you have simple principles and you adapt to opponents only. It is hard to explain, but cash is simply easier than tournaments.

Yes, it's hard to play cache games if you allow at least one mistake, you need to play strategically and tactically or to stay in freerolls yourself.
