Is it just me or is this guy really really awful?

david peat, Viffer a Pro.
hes 4 ways in a pot with 72h UTG+1 bets into 3 players on a board with overpairs and a flush draw?, and then carried on betting with more overcards and draws developing.
And he doesn't seem to have any sense of position

And the next hand... J8 flats trickets 3-bet on the button with J8? ofcourse he gets lucky here turning a flush draw, but isn't that still an awful play against a player of sam trickets pedigree when he has position over you and players to act

There are many more shocking plays he has made, calls himself a pro, granted he must know what hes doing. But still no excuse for some of the stuff he does?

I think he quit a while back actually.

He's always been a loose player pre, and from what I've seen Trickett is quite a tight player. I wouldn't judge a successful pro's playing style by a few YouTube videos you find, though ;)

It's just you.

Well hes clearly a donkish player assumingly thats part of his game and his image, but he's able to use it well to make money.

I still find his style irritating though

I really don't like the raise by Dwan. But then he's playing in the high roller Macau cash games, and I'm grinding 10nl.

It's you. Go watch people you consider among the best in the world play. You'll soon see that they make plays you don't understand / can't justify. Is it more likely that they suddenly turned into awful players, even temporarily, or that they think at levels you don't?

Never having seen Peat except for a couple of TV appearances, my default assumption is that like anyone who plays far above my level, he also thinks at a higher level than I do.

This got me thinking. Since they all (or almost all) are capable of playing levels 1-5 , isn't it like random then how much they choose to outlevel each other? Wrong leveling and you level yourself.

My theory is that for the most part high stakes players are essentially swapping money on TV for publicity's sake. They don't really beat each other by all that much?

Yeah, I kind of feel like if the TV cameras were not there the table would not be full of pros wanting to play each other, they make their real money off rich amateurs I am sure.

I wouldn't read much into televised poker. They pick the best hands and most interesting hands which are big pots, big hands and of course big bluffs which make poker interesting to watch on TV. Imagine them just showing on TV each and every hand, they would have like no viewers lol.

Viffer is a loose player though, but he's certainly not a donk.

I like when there are people at the table like Viffer. It makes poker funnier, more interesting. It is not boring and that's why I like these situations.
