Hey CC. I have a question for you Iron Men (and women). Do you opt-in to displaying your Iron man chip? If so, why? If not, why not? I have heard a few cardrunners instructors say it is bad to have an iron man chip because it lets people know that you are a reg who plays a lot of hands, but if you are regularly playing a limit, wouldn't regs observe that you are a reg anyway?

Iron man chip = lots of hands. It doesn't show that you are TAG, or LAG, or loose passive with lots of cash, or an SNG player, or a cash game player. There are plenty of tools online to tell others those things. In higher stakes, where people probably know you anyways, the chip won't do anything. In middle stakes, they won't be able to read your play, but they might give you some credit as a solid winning player. So why not?

*I should point out that I consider the advantages gained by the chip, combined with a solid table image over a few rotations, as outweighing those gained by not wearing it and at first perhaps coming on as a fish. If you come on as a fish, you are going to need a big hand quick to capitalize before they realize you are solid. My approach is for the longer games, and I think it can maybe buy you a bluff or two in the first two or three rotations rather than a quick double up in five hands if you are lucky.

It doesn't matter, a lot of fish won't notice/know what it means (or care), regulars will already know your a regular with or without it.

This is the way I feel as well. I don't think having or not having an ironman chp makes a lick of difference in strategy. I think that if anything it is a very slight benefit because regs or semiregs who don't know you already will give you a little extra credit.

Edit: Fried Chicken is way ahead

I really don't think that it is going to make a difference in the long run. The other regulars most likely already have a lot of hands on you and the fish won't care either way. Still, fried chicken ftw.
