Hey there, I was here a couple of weeks ago bitching about my poor luck, and as of now my losing streak keeps on going. I could go on and on about how I lose but I have to take into consideration that it cannot be all luck, I must be doing something terribly wrong. I'm playing 2NL and I am totally stuck, and requesting some help as how and where I can learn and improve my game. I've read crushing the microstakes, lots of other stuff and online material, but still there must be something I can learn to snap out of this losing streak. As of now I've played over 100K hands at 2NL, barely winning. I've been reviewing my poker tracker hands, my biggest losses come from set over set, full house over full house, quads over quads, shoving AA and KK pre-flop and losing, and not connecting to flops (I very rarely do), then C-beting and giving up on the turn and river (Probably my biggest losings come from losing those small pots all the time). How can I get past this and become better at 2NL? Since I do not hit flops should I not be C-betting the majority of time? Cause as of now I am.

Thank you

Learn to bet fold , the most important factor in beating the micros is always getting value when you are ahead . Most players at micros make more passive mistakes than aggressive ones . We take advantage of this by taking them to value town when they call too much .

On your cbet question , a lot would depend on how many opponents are in the hand postflop and the board texture we would be cbetting into . I tend to not cbet complete air multiway at the micros because people tend to call a lot .

Overall my advice is tighten your ranges , make sure you are getting value when you do actually have the best of it . Try not to worry about the coolers too much . Try finding some of Bart Hansens old podcast , they are great for teaching always getting value concepts . Good luck

You shouldn't just blindly be Cbetting, no.

Ask yourself questions like:

Is this flop the type likely to hit my opponents range of holdings?

Is this the type of flop that could believably of hit my perceived range of holdings?

How many people are in the hand with me?

What is my relative position in the hand>?

Can I check/Call this flop profitably?

What type of player/s am I in the pot with?

I actually struggled with Cbetting for a long time myself, but the best I can tell you is you'll get better at answering those questions- especially the ones dealing with opponents and their ranges- by simply playing more hands.

Guys, it's 2015, the NL ring games are the fish pools they were in 2005....sometimes you gotta lose a few buyins to learn the game.

Also,

How many tables are you playing?

If it's over 2-3, maybe cut that down to 1-2 for a month ....maybe just one, and see how your winrate goes for 10-20k hands or something. Concentrate on putting players on ranges and acting accordingly.
