Whats up everyone. Without a doubt, this has been a really tough month. I cashed out a lock poker and 909.60 and then I put it all into Americas Cardroom. I am playing the 25 NL stakes and I am down at 250 to 300 dollars. I feel so not confident about my game and I am just lost on what I am doing or trying to do. Even with playing ABC poker and I am just getting wiped out and making no progress in my game. I know you cant put everything on the wins, but it is also hard to learn a lot about the loss. I'm getting in with good hands, and I am missing totally. I was able to get pocket pairs at least 10 times in 15 minutes and I did not hit one of them and all had higher card flops and ultra wet boards.
My question is for everyone out there. How the hell do I get back on track and get my stuff back to winning. I am just really not confident right now and I am questioning and thinking the worst when I am in a hand.

Be brutally honest because I can take it. I just want to get back to winning.

Hang in there man the swings can be brutal but you just have to maintain your A game or take a break, maybe you should lower your stake now that your roll has taken a hit.

Sounds like you need a break from playing and regroup. Have you moved down stakes or still playing 25nl. I would suggest moving down with your current bankroll I would have at least 25 buy ins.

All I can really say is if its variance then it will get better, but if you are starting to make mistakes then you need to address it. I'm not on that poker site so not sure if you can store hand histories etc. I would go over my hands and look at them objectively and think about what the optimum play is here as if someone else had played the hand.

Also what are you wanting to hit with pocket pairs if its a set then its like 1 in 8 times you will hit on the flop, going 10 times without a set is pretty common. What if you hit a set on wet board are you giving up, slowing down. Are you thinking of ranges of other players. Really think of the players around you and what they will do. Best advice I can give is go through your hands and really criticise your play and think about it as coaching if this was someone else and how should they play it. I think your mindset is "I always miss the flop and they always have to have it so I'll fold to their bet". Start to see if they are always donk betting or c-betting and are you always folding when you miss so they will constantly c-bet you, I would.

Hope it turns around for you.

It happens. I ended last month with 12 BI down at 10nl after an 23 BI upswing and this month I'm in my normal winnings. So stay strong and try to play your A game (if you can't, then take a break and come back when you feel recharged). After this downswing you will get it back pretty fast.

The break suggestion is spot on. I have been away from the game since February and I am going to start playing again, and I am extemely excited and ready to play.

This is what I am going through and it is very frustrating, I have decided today that I am going on a week break and not playing poker at all. I will carry on studying and from tomorrow I am going to watch the EPT Barcelona on pokerstars.tv.

It sounds like you need to take a break and I would advise that. I had a bad run in April and I took a week off then and came back feeling happy with my game and refreshed.

GL @ the tables :)

Hi RegHC!

You will face these months every so often. Most of it is running bad, and then that conditions you to be afraid, which then, causes you to play worse.

There are no right answers on how to avoid this pain. You must find some ways to feel supported, and not concerned with the results (easier said than done).

If it were me, I would do a few things...

Take a few days off, and study every bit of poker content I'd ever read. Id sweat a friend as much as possible. I might put a $100 bet on a roulette table to reset my brain. And, when I do return, I'd play the easiest game for me to beat (which would be full ring, in my case). Id also shorten up my session times and go over hand histories ALOT for the next few days.

Getting drunk could help as well =)
