I'm keen to find out what the opinions are given this situation:

Let's say you've hit a flop, but you think you may be behind (suggesting a check/call or bet/fold strategy); but there are also draws on the board (making check/call more dangerous).

For instance, let's say you're in LP, there are a few limpers incl you.
Flop comes and you hit middle pair. But there are 2 suited cards on the board. First player makes a 1/2-sized pot bet, and everyone folds to you.

Do you
a) fold?
b) call?
c) raise?

Assume you call (or raise and get called). The turn is a nothing card. Villian checks. But you're fairly sure you're behind at this point.

Now, do you
a) Bet?
b) Check?

Checking saves you money if you're behind, but it also gives villian a free-card if you're wrong (you're actually ahead) and he's drawing a flush after trying the "free card trick" on you?

What to do, what to do?

FOLD!!!!!!! There's multiple people in the pot and he's bet out when first to act so he's got something, you've got 2nd pair and someone has led out with draws on the board (that I presume have nothing to do with you). I'd get the hell out of dodge before I lost any more chips. Yes I could be ahead, but I'm behind enough times to not worry about it.

If I call it starts to get very easy to justify a further call through pot and implied odds and then really bad things start to happen.

Calling (unless there are some spectacular implied reasons otherwise) is the most passive and costly option. Personally I love those who call with second pair, they are easy to peg and even easier to spot when they get a good hand as they dust off the raise button.

If you really think you are ahead and can't bear to let go of 2nd pair then raise it and give yourself a chance to win it there and then, but with that many people in the pot and someone leading out I'd let it go at the first opportunity.

Depends on a few things, if i got a Lot of chips i might call or raise, also i would be studying how that player played, etc. tight or loose,, you have to consider everything that has happened at the table so far> buck:cool:

yes generally fold but does depend on who you're playing, how big their stack is, whether they're a calling station and therefore your implied odds should you hit.
