Ok so when i play ring tables i go in with .50 on walker on a .02/.04 game and so far i am doing good i come out with more in the end....
Now i got $10 sponsorship and now have it up to $15 and would like to know if i should move up on level when i hit $20 ????

note i when in with .50 and left the table with 3.79  the most i ever won for 20 mins of play. did some trapping and i was even called when i bet .20C on pocket kings and won :D i even called an allin donk with AQ and won it....

The min amount to get in to a .20/.04 table is .50 and the max is 4.00 :)

so should i move up or not when i hit $20 ???????

First of all, 20 or 30 minutes is no indication of how well you play.....it sounds as if you've played on a single table for 20 minutes.

You could have played TERRIBLE poker and still come out ahead in 30 minutes. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you should play well around 10k hands to figure out if you can beat any certain level....

.02/.04 nl is as low as it gets on walker... And i have been playing for some time now and for the first time i tho out the odds and outs on a hand...
I could give a sit&go a shot but the low ones i found are 2.00 + .20 so thats out.
And if you know how long it takes for an OBS on ub to chat in a real money game i am just a bit away 1 to 2 weeks from doing so.

So how much do you think i should get built up before i play in one of the sit&gos???????

Define: "bankroll management"

-> Exactly the opposite of what you're doing.

You're pulling an old classic of treating your br like a tournament. If you just keep moving up when you can't take a hit, well you're going to get hit. It's only a matter of time. You can't play anywhere but .01/.02 with that kind of money, and even there, you shouldn't be buying in for the full $5. Good luck with that though.

how come it says your an expert member, it sounds like you dont know anything about building a bankroll, if you made that much money in twenty minutes than you are playing way too aggresively and your 15 dollars isnt going to last long, id stay in the same limits for right now. A bankroll is money that is set aside for just playing poker and you should never risk your entire play money in one sitting, as a general rule for myself i never play a game that i cant buy the max into at least 10 times, and thats lower than i feel comfortable with, but i got bills to pay. Anyways, after you lose that $15 a few times you'll get the hang of it.

It says expert, cuz that rank is merely a function of the # of posts you make.

first off all i got in the account was $10.00 and 2nd the lowest table that walker has is a .02/.04.. The site i got the sponsorship from has lessons on "Bankroll management" and has it setup to take a test i did even better in the BR lessons then any of the outer tests there...
I know i am only to be playing 1% but of $10.00 is .10C...
1% - divide your total bankroll by 100
1.25% - divide your total bankroll by 80
1.5% - divide your total bankroll by 66
1.75% - divide your total bankroll by 57
2% - divide your total bankroll by 50
2.25% - divide your total bankroll by 45
2.5% - divide your total bankroll by 40
2.75% - divide your total bankroll by 36
3% - divide your total bankroll by 33
So i know about "Bankroll management" i have also been playing for up to 6 month's now.... And it has even been said on that site that 10.00 for starting out and learning BRM is wrong.
I go in to Ultimatebet .01/.02 games with .10 to .20 and come out with some.
yeah i lost .50 at walker but made it back + some.... and so far i have not gone under the 10.00 bucks they gave me.
And i can even do the same think with play money to.

There are many ways to think about bankroll management for cash games. Percent of BR for buyin is one way.

I like to have 20 buyins, and I like to consider these buyins to be as deep as I am allowed.

So if your Walker site allows for $4 buyins at the 04nl tables then I would want to be rolled at $80 to feel safe. Below this is red zone... technically too low to even be playing 04.

If the next step is 08, then I'd want to have the full $160 before moving up, and set a stop limit on the downswing that is common when getting used to new limits.

I started with $10 at stars. I played 2nl waaay TAG (well at least for me as I am a F I S H... 18/10 ish) until I had $50 and I opened up and played 6max, more loose where I do a little better.

I did not spend any real time at 05nl or higher until I had $200. 05nl has $10 max buyins. Technically $200 is also rolled for 10nl.

So that's how I handle bankroll.

In many of pokers aspects of strategy being too conservative is a terrible error.

Being "too conservative" in bankroll management isn't really one of these errors. you might move more slowly, but you will do it in safety.

Thanks CAPS, I get what your saying and it walker had a .01/.02 i would be playing at. And i will not take a crack at the sit&gos till i have more in my BR... And i only go in with the min witch is .50.
It looks like there are less fish in walker then in ub and they are with CP and you know how they have the stars next to there nick ??? they are the ones i am playing at the tables most of the time and they will fold quick or pay for calling me:D
thanks CAPS you put some light on the topic:smile:

Well i wish you the best. you CAN beat the tables with your little cash and build it up. Just be careful and think about some of these things until you have enough money to be wilder.

1. Brush up on real TAG play. You will be in the vast minority at 04nl playing tight and aggressive. It is slow, but it WILL win.

2. Be careful with "all in"s. Even if it might be a good play you have to adjust for % of BR issues. I see you are sitting majorly shortstacked, so that will protect here a bit.

3. That said consider disciplined deeper stacked play so you can work profitable hands like sets and the like more efficiently. HOWEVER, if you can't control your risk then stick to your SS strategy i guess.

4. During this time... if you are sitting with players that seem tough and agressive, or have made you mad JUST LEAVE. Do NOT waste your time trying to play back at guys who are either good players, or such lunatics that you might get taken out with them when they blow up. When you have the money to afford this you can play tougher opponents. But now you want more than anything to play weak passive fish.

5. Stick to full ring.

6. DO NOT GAMBLE. Play the odds, and play good poker.

7. Read this thread before you play another single hand:
