I assume there were only values hands in his range (he is a very nitty: 8/2/17 (54))

I Cbet on the flop willing to make him fold AK, AQ and AJs (15 combos).
Get called (awful) but the turn really improves my equity and implied odds.

I don`t lead again afraid of facing a shove (his stack would be perfect to shove for value if I bet again and there would only be value in his range). So I decide to check.

He bets half pot (for value, I assume) and I fold.

How should I have played this diferently? Maybe just folded pre?

Disclaimer: I'm a noob and I'm still learning so anything I say should be taken with a grain of salt

I think his raise was intended to steal the blinds. Once you reraised him, he felt compelled to see the flop after already investing in the pot. Even nits will open up their range on the button when they are the first to enter the pot.

I think he's probably opened with a face card + anything. So I don't think a 9 or a 5 is unlikely. Perhaps even a straight draw?

I think the better play would be to call his raise pre, then check-call/check-raise the turn and look for signs of weakness. Or out of position, and any pair at all has you beat.

He's a massive nit. Guys like that can have my BB if it's just Ace-rag.

No merit in 3-bet bluffing (which is essentially what you're doing here), unless he has a high "fold to 3-bet %".

As played, postflop seems fine. Nits don't tend to float and then bluff. He has something you don't beat.

Um. Fold the BB. Not a great hand and you're completely out of position.

But, since you didn't....you bet the flop and got called. Why check the turn? Fire again. If he shoves you can fold. But checking just gives up the hand entirely and he's going to bet with anything. That's a raggedy board. He probably has Ace, king or Queen high. You have a piece with an over.
