Just went to a B&M casino. Didn't pay any attention to rakes (I didn't even know what a rake was when they told me). Bought in for $20 and cashed out for $72 and this was in under an hour of playing. I hear many people saying it's almost impossible to profit because of the rake and it seems people say the rake is easier on 3/6 limit? What do you guys think? Just pure dumb luck? Should I check out 3/6 next time I play?

No very little about live play, but, the results of less than an hour of live play means nothing. Does sound like you are way uninformed if you have any desire to use poker as a money generating activity. Just there for a good time & you are using money you can afford to lose, have fun.

Well first off research limit hold-em because from what I understand its a solved game, meaning there is an optimal strategy for every situation which will benefit you a lot when you decide to sit back down. Second it sounds like you ran pretty well to triple up after buying in for close to the minimum- you wont be able to replicate that success consistently.

Hope this helps and good luck next time man

Congratulations you did what I've done maybe 100x or more on a 2/4 but usually i ran it up to 200+ maybe 300 on a good day.

Now for the unforseen truth. Play 2/4 for 40 hours a week for the next year like i did. You will never in one million years beat the rake at 2/4 limit game long term. good luck though.
