Ive been playing microstakes for a long time now, and to be honest although I never went broke, I never really won anything either.

This dude has turned up at my house, uses my internet and wins hundreds of dollars per session. He literally never has a bad session. He buys in for 40 at 100nl and quits at 300+

It started with a 100 deposit on FTP, and within 1 week had made 300 bucks, like in a few hours. I watch him play and theres no way this stuff works at low stakes............ hes playing 50c/$1 and recently $1/$2 always buying in shortstack then making 3 or 4 buyins then quitting.

It seems like everything I learnt is worth nothing, most of the money comes from
reraising or 3betting reraises.

The term "aggression is key" pertains to a lot of the hands I watch.

At first I was like this guy doesnt really know that much, some of his lines dont make sense, and "surely someone with stats on this guy would see his incredibly high 3bet and counter". Sure this happens often, and when there is a $3 raise (3xbb) and a reraise to $9, he will make it $22 or so, and get folds most of the time. I reraised ever he instafolds.

He made $300 in one hour without showdown. Most money was won from 3bets or continuation (he is 100% contibet).

Can a heater last 30 sessions? I went halves on a couple of sessions earlier and lost money with him at $25nl. He said his strategy just doesnt work at such low limits.

He Deposited $100. withdrew $1000 and has $500 to play with, in two weeks less than 1 hour per day. Wotamofo.

Well, assuming that when he does those bold 3bets and 4bets he is doing so light, then most opponents will give him credit for a big hand if they don't have much history on him. However, once he does it a lot people will quickly adjust and he should expect to see other players coming over the top of his 3bets pretty often, and when he is buying in shortstacked, one ill-timed 3bet could lose a significant portion of his stack.

Could just be variance. Does he claim to be a long time winner? Is he playing at a site you can look up his stats? I remember watching someone play I thought knew how to bully the table but when I looked up his stats they were bad. Is he using a hud? Maybe he is 3-betting players he knows aren't paying attention and will fold to his aggression but I don't think mostlong time winners use a short stack strategy.

That happened to me today also playing, like I would always fold due the large amount of raise by other player - cuz basically I don't want to risk a lot just to call his bluff

He said his strategy just doesnt work at such low limits.

.

peopel fold more at higher limits, but it doesn't mean that it wont work at lower limits.

He's clearly just playing a SS game which doesn't require as much skill as deep stacked, and you can put other player in awkard positions especially if it's multiple way pot which can be profitble at 10nl more so than 50nl ot 100nl whichever liimts he's playing. Not sure why he's saying it wont work at those limits....it sounds like he's on a heater and doesn't know what he's on about.

However, if you have watched him do all this and you say it doesn't work at your limits either and what you have learnt etc doesn't work, then deposit, play his limits and do what he's doing. Easy game.
